Microsoft's answer to Win10 wireless USB router connection problems

If Windows 10 does not recognize your wireless USB adapter then you MUST use an ethernet cable to connect directly to the internet to resolve wireless connection issues; there is no other way.
I should qualify this by saying my particular problem is with a Panda PAU06 wireless USB adapter which is Windows 10 compatible and PnP. Win 10 does not recognize it at all.
I realize there are other wireless USB adapters which may have other issues but if your adapter is not recognized by Win 10 then there are no adjustments or fixes to correct the problem without going online from the affected computer. You cannot simply download a driver to a flash drive on another computer and then use it to fix your computer that has the problem.
In the case of the Panda it is a new model that is Windows 10 compatible.

    :)

  2. Error after upgrading

Yesterday I upgraded from win7 to win10, the computer was connected to the internet via a usb wireless device, everything happened smooth and without any problem, even played around with the new system.

Today I turned on the machine and can't connect to the router, router is working fine the other computers are connected, I don't know how to fix this, even tried to uninstall the wireless device and can not uninstall, tried another netgear usb wireless
device and nothing happened no recognition of new device, nothing, this second device got very hot and I removed it from the usb port.

If there is a solution please let me know.

    Thank you.

  3. Win10 upgrade from Win7pro stalls at Welcome screen

I have found and fixed the problem.

Apparently you have to have a connection to the internet in order to get past the initial welcome screen, or else the above problem occurs. I use a wireless USB device to connect my PC to my internet router. Even though the wireless device was working fine
in Win 7, (I downloaded the Win 10 pkg with it), for some reason it didn't work again with Win 10. I shut off the pwr, disconnected the USB wireless device, plugged an Ethernet cable btwn the PC & router, booted up, got to the Welcome scrn, and could then proceed
    as expected.

Fwiw, I was telling a friend who was upgrading his laptop from Win8.1 via his wireless connection. He had the same problem, until he also connected via cable. He attributed it to his secured (passphrase needed) wireless network, where Win10 doesn't recognize
the previous Win8.1 credentials, and there's no recognition of, or provision offered, to re-join the network.

Thanks for taking the time to answer Andre, I'm sure your answer will also help someone who's situation is as you were addressing.

  4. Microsoft's answer to Win10 wireless USB router connection problems

It's a Wireless USB Adapter, not a wireless USB Router, by the way. The Router is what the Wireless USB Adapter connects too. Aside from using a cable, you could also just buy a Wireless USB adapter that works with Windows 10. Why can't you download a driver to a flash drive on another computer and then use it to fix your computer that has the problem?

There are a lot of devices that Microsoft does not keep drivers for in their hardware database. You always have to have the installer on hand for any device, regardless if Windows recognizes it or not.

    Not exactly true Art,
Belkin usb's actually use Ralink adapted drivers,
( I changed my FD8053 to the parent driver RT2870 coz of the problems the Belkin ones gave me)
Independant makers probably including Panda use what i call Child versions.

If you can determine which is the parent for that driver then you can use the update driver facility within W7.
