Microsoft's new Buy-Wifi feature hijacking my wifi

Microsoft recently added a feature to Windows 10 that allows you to purchase wifi access to hotspots through the Windows store.

However as a customer of Cablevision , I pay for (as part of my cable package) for Optimum Wifi (owned by Cablevision) hotspots.

Now, when I go to the wifi icon in my taskbar to view the available networks there is a message by Optimum Wifi to buy from the Windows store . There is no option to login with my Optimum Wifi account.

This is frustrating as I cant access wifi which I already pay for throuh my cable provider because of Microsoft's buggy implementation of this feature.

    :)

Where is the solution for the no wifi after windows 10 update?

    Microsoft has hijacked my wifi!!

I see many posts on this problem but no solutions,

How can we allow Microsoft to do this?

I've updated wifi drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled the adaapter, and I still don't have my wifi back.

Microsoft keeps saying my network key is incorrect or it simply "can't connect".

Surely there is some Micosoft guru that knows what is happening here.

All because of a Microsoft "update".

    Someone please help!!

Windows 10 was designed around - it's all about the money business model..

Free OS - so you have to pay for everything else..

It's not really free, if you install it to a new PC you have to buy a new license

OP: I'd try a system restore, take note of what updates are being deleted, and then hide those using the Windows Update Show/Hide Fixit tool.

After messing it with, I think it will connect anyway, but still the message is misleading and it should not show under an ssid which is not owned by Microsoft. They may have a deal to resell Optimum's hotspots however it should not appear on the SSID which Optimum customers see.

So it just changed after an update, it used to say one thing, now it says something else? That might be what happened, just a simple name change. With those kinds of connections it gets piped through into the system. Hey friend of mine had a Verizon satellite hotspot that did that.

I don't think Optimum WiFi and Microsoft are affiliated, though I could be wrong.

Uninstall the optimum WiFi application which you installed from the windows store.

Not sure when it first appeared but recently

Its not an Optimum Wifi app, its Microsoft Wi-fi app. I do not have it installed, it wants me to install it and buy wifi from Microsoft.

So Optimimum Wifi is included with my cable package, I am entitled to access it without paying since i already pay through by cable bill.

Have you called the cable company and asked them about it?

That's what I say do a system restore to before when this appeared. Can you still click on that and connect to your Wi-Fi?
