Microsoft's Relentless Efforts to Upgrade Fails Most Customer Service Standards

I have an old pc that came with Windows 7 and I unfortunately accepted the free upgrade to Windows 10.
The first version 1511 was ok but every subsequent attempted feature upgrade failed and always reverted to my previous version 1511 with no error codes or reasons why.
I determined from Acer that my older pc was not compatible with the latest Windows 10 upgrades so after much effort I finally found a way last March (from this website) to "permanently" stop attempted upgrades.
I have enjoyed 5 months of peace & quiet from Microsoft.

Suddenly today I got an update for version 1511, which I thought was no longer supported, and with it, the version 1803 feature update.
Clearly Microsoft has found a new way to upgrade pc's that have implemented an assortment of techniques to block upgrades. Why don't they understand that if I have gone to the depths of the OS to block upgrades, I DON"T WANT THEM. If I suffer a security issue because I don't get updates/upgrades I accept it as my responsibility.
So again from this website I found a new way to stop upgrades and hopefully I will have more peace & quiet for a while.

I see that the market share for Windows 7 is no longer decreasing and is now leveling out at 40% while Windows 10 is only slightly increasing. With Microsoft's attitude, Windows 7 will be around forever. It seems that's ok with them.

    :)

    Restore Windows Update Service

In an effort to stop the relentless lengthy downloading and subsequent failure to install of the Features Update (to 1803) I used a workaround that included stopping the windows update service in Services(local).
Attempting to download other updates using the Windows 10 Update assistant eventually leads to 'The windows update service is not in the list' 0x80074024.
I have trawled the web/Microsoft forums but cannot find how to restore the Windows update Service.
    Any thoughts?

  3. EVGA GTX 2xx series Reinbursement Service

XFX started it and Evga is doing the same. Evga is starting its own reinbursement program for those who bought the Evga 2xx series when they first came out. All you have to do is follow a few steps.

    • Must be a new purchase from an authorized EVGA reseller. Step-ups do not qualify.
    • You have 14 days to register and upload a qualified invoice to claim your EVGA Bucks.
    • Only customers who purhased the EVGA GTX 280 or GTX 260 at the full Manufactured Suggested Reatil Price (MSRP) will qualify for the Reimbursement Program.
    • If between June 16th and July 7th you purchased an:
    • EVGA GTX 260 you will receive $75.00 in EVGA Bucks* or $60.00 Cash Back
    • EVGA GTX 280 you will receive $150.00 in EVGA Bucks* or $125.00 Cash Back
The only thing this doesn't cover is the Step-up program. I'm fine with that because I got the price cut anyway. I just hope to get the card by this weekend if not early next week. I have a itch to bench. *Rockout :rockout:
