Windows 10: Micrsoft APPs can't connect, Account Verification Error, Broken User Profile

We have several machines running Win11 and a few on Win10 that are having issues with all of the microsoft apps. Store, Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, Excel, Word, Windows Update, etc. The apps report as though there is no internet connection but the internet is up and fully functional. Can browse, ping, check dns, and so on. On Win11, when clicking on the search bar the user profile has red exclimation mark on it and asks the user to verify the account. Clicking verify does no good. As these are work machines, the user does not have the ability to verify their account via the web portal. these Mi

Broken User Profile, Windows 10

I managed to get this fixed (kind of), I was able to successfully create a new user profile.

For reference:

• I backed up the user profile (C:\Users\USERNAME)
• Deleted the profile using the User Profiles tool (Control Panel > System and Security > System > Advanced System Settings > under User Profiles click Settings > delete the broken profile).
• Then in Control Panel under User Accounts I added a new user with the name, but selected the domain (User Accounts > Manager User Accounts > Add > enter username of user to add and Active Directory domain name).

I was then able to login with a fresh profile and everything now works fine.

 

Account verification when overseas

One way I see around this is by using the Microsoft Authenticator App on another device which you could possibly bring with you. This app is very easy to use and requires you to enter a code into the app to prove it's really you. It's available on the App
Store and Google Play.

Or as you suggested there is a way to turn off two-step verification on your Microsoft account. This would make your account more vulnerable but if you're willing to take the risk then it's pretty easy. Just head over to microsoft.com and sign into your
account. Click your profile picture and select "My Microsoft Account". Now choose "Security" at the top and "More Security Options". Microsoft has a useful article on this here: How to use two-step verification with your Microsoft account - Microsoft Support
. Now follow the steps to turn off two-step verification.
