Windows 10: Might I have problems when 1909 gets installed?

Hello everyone, this is my first post to this website. Looks like a great place to ask questions and answer other people's questions.

I've got Windows 10 Professional installed on my desktop. (Version 1903 OS Build 18362.476). Back when 1903 was installed on my system this summer, it left me in an odd state. My profile was changed from C:\Users\Rod to C:\Users\Rod.000. Initially there were some problems with different programs not knowing where things were, but over time I've gotten everything working. But everything is still under C:\Users\Rod.000. At the time I was told by some that I had to move everything back to C:\Users\Rod. I tried, initially, using File Explorer, but it would have taken over 24 hours to copy it off to a secondary HD I've got in my system. Several different people have profiles on my desktop, so I couldn't very well tell them to do nothing while it churned away. And since it was trying to copy ~40GB of data in files from one old platter HD to another old platter HD, I admit I didn't think it would succeed. As it is, the only profile on this desktop that is using a temporary/intermediate profile is my own.

Now, here we are, with 1909 eminent to be installed, I am concerned what might happen to my profile now? Is it in danger of being completely wiped out? Or will everything be OK and I should just proceed with the upgrade?

Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

Steps to confirm issue:

• Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
• Secondary drive not visible in device manager
• Secondary device not visible in disk manager

Steps to replicate issue:

• Installing 1909 update

Steps to resolve issue:

• Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.

 

1909 in the offing?

No. I'm suggesting that to install 1909 first Setup installs 1903 (18362) then it switch on the 1909 (18363) features with the Enablement Package.

1909 is not a full Feature Update in the normal sense, this is the first Feature Update to be performed via a form of cumulative update. See my post #115

 

Windows 10, version 1909 - Error 0x80070005

Went through the MCT step and the History shows that there have been multiple failures to install 1903 and 1909 over the last months. The steps I took in your installation did not end up with a successful installation. I did turn off my VPN but not the
MS Defender tool. The web shows that many people have this issue and there are some pretty complicated suggestions, and not sure that any work.

I am sure this is only a MS issue and that Apple would not have this problem.

Any link to advice that will get me on the right road.
