  1. Migrating all apps and data from one Windows 11 PC to another, via an external HD

The wifi card in my MINI pc has failed, and I need to send to the manufacture, whom will be replacing with a new computer. I need to make a back up / clone/ image of my current PC to an external drive, and then transfer all the data to the new machine at a later time.I'm not sure how to go about this. Should I use a cloning program or is the a better way? Thanks in advance for your advice?

    :)

  2. how to move data on pc hd to external hd and back to repair lost admin password in windows 10

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. Let me help you.

    • Are you able to copy and paste the data from one location to another?

    • Do you receive any error code while moving the files to external HD?

I suggest you to go through the following troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

Kindly try to start your computer in Safe mode from the Windows Recovery Environment.

Please refer to the below link to start the computer in Safe mode.

Windows Startup Settings (including safe mode) - Microsoft Support

Note: The steps for Windows 8.1 applies to Windows 10.

Once you have entered into the Safe mode then, open Command Prompt and enable Built in Administrator.

Follow the below steps to enable Built in Administrator:

    • Open Command Prompt from
      Windows Recovery Environment
      .

    • Copy and paste the below command and press Enter.

      net user administrator /active:yes

    • Close the Command Prompt.

    • Try to login though Built in Administrator and change the earlier password or you can create new user account.

Keep us posted on the issue. We will be happy to assist you further.

  3. jumanji Win User
External HD, recognized by PC but unable to initialize

    @tonymannaro

This does not appear to be a Data Recovery problem but a problem with Windows 10 and as such I shall leave it to other learned members here.

I have only one suggestion: Plug your external drive on a Windows 7 PC and check what happens. And it worked for atleast one user - from what I read here https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...f7e7530?page=2 just to get an insight on " scsi was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match" - Google search

"My Win10 laptop recognized it as an external SCSI device & would not allow it to be used all the while insisting that it was working OK. I also got the 'not migrated' msg. After fooling around for about an hour, I connected the HD to my old Win7 netbook & it loaded just fine except that now it was recognized as an external USB device fully formatted as NTFS." - PhilPugliese

Do this first before trying any other suggested solutions. If it works and you are able to read the HDD copy all data to another drive.

  4. Migrating all apps and data from one Windows 11 PC to another, via an external HD

    External HD Connection Problem

I have attached an external HD to my computer running Windows 10 and it will not show up in my drive list. The properties shows it as Seagate.ink - what is an ink file and any suggestions as to how I can get it to work?
