Windows 10: Migrating Windows 10 OEM from old to new desktop

Hello,

I have a 5-year-old HP desktop and I want to change it to a brand-new Dell desktop.
I do not want to lose my system files or my personal files. I believe my HP desktop has an OEM version of Windows 10 home [was upgraded from Windows 7].
Can I use a mirroring application like Macrium Reflect to migrate my system to a Dell desktop and activate my windows with Dell Windows 10 OEM ?

Does Windows 10 home OEM come with activation code?

If the upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 from an OEM copy of Windows 7, you cannot transfer it.

If its from a retail store bought Windows 7, yes, you can transfer it.

The question is, why do you want to transfer the Windows 7 license from the old to the new computer? Is the old computer running Windows 10 Pro and the new one running Windows 10 Home?

If that is the case, it would be better you uninstall the product key then perform an easy upgrade to Windows 10 Pro on the new computer.

I still don't get the point of why you want to transfer the license though. You need to give us more information.

Migrating Win10 OEM Upgrade from HDD to SSD

I recently helped a friend with OEM Windows 7 Home Premium on his laptop upgrade to Windows 10. All went well with no probs - so laptop is currently running Windows 10 OEM.

He now wants to swap out the single HDD for a Samsung 850 Evo SSD. Can I simply migrate the HDD to the SSD, and then swap the SSD for the HDD - and Windows 10 OEM will still be activated?

I did something similar with my laptop (running Win10 Retail, upgraded from Win8.1 retail), using the Samsung migration software.

Will a similar job work with Win10 OEM?
