That's not bad. That's about $37USD. I'm paying $44/mo for 1TB cap, of which I don't come close to using. Get much higher speeds, though at around 48mbps. I can't get unlimited unless I bundle with TV and that would cost me a small fortune. I don't watch TV and stream everything.

Switched to cell only a little over 4 years ago. I'm paying less than I would for a landline. No cell data, but unlimited talk and text.

I have to keep my land line for two reasons. Where I live the cell signal fades in and out plus the land line is included with my Xfinity plan.

I like my landline phone. It comes as part of a triple play package I have for internet, cable and phone service. It adds little to the cost of the package and phone calls on it basically cost nothing. Since I use an extremely cheap pay as you go $3 a month service for cell phone usage, this cheap landline saves even more money since I don't have to use the cell while at home.

I also like having a dedicated fixed cordless phone with answering machine unit to deal with these home calls at home - this offers better ergonomics than a cell phone/smartphone - and better call quality and no battery to be concerned about. I can also give out numbers in a way that makes sense to me - who I would give the cell number to and who I would give the home phone number. Lastly, in the event of cellular service being down or overloaded via emergency or catastrophe, which I have experienced in the past, I have an extra phone line and can still communicate.

  6. If's its part of a bundle it's probably VOIP which is internet phone (digital). Most Internet and TV providers offer this now and it's closer to cellular than the traditional landline which is analog. Well if you have VOIP it requires both power and Internet to be up so it is just as susceptible to disasters as is a cell phone.

  7. Still for many of us the only consistent telephone service available. Bundled with an ADSL connection anyway. To not use it and have an ADSL connection makes no sense at all.
