Windows 10: Mime attachments ics files come as "untitled" in yahoo mail on windows 11

Hi,When I receive emails on my yahoo mail web version in windows 11 instead of getting a normal mime attachment ics file for a calendar event I only get an attachment named "untitled". And this attachment does not work.I tried some workaround solutions and found the following:- when I open the email in yahoo mail for Iphone all is OK- when I send to myself i.e. to my yahoo email address the email in question from Iphone I get the right attachment in my yahoo mail web version in windows 11How can we explain this phenomenon and there is any solution to fix the problem when receiving directly t

The answer you've posted is to download another mail client for Windows Mobile? That is truly pathetic.

I just spent over two hours trying to figure out why an attached .ics file wasn't showing up in Outlook Mobile - when I have received numerous event invitations through Google Calendar that have all shown up perfectly OK. I also have a HTC phone - the Sprint
Mogul - and all my email accounts are set up with IMAP.

So, I guess the default behavior of Outlook Mobile is to purposely strip out any attachment with the .ics extension? I looked through the source of my Google invitations and found that while the .ics was included in the email as an attachment - it was also
being sent with a different content type in the header:

Content-Type: text/calendar; charset=ISO-8859-1; method=REQUEST

Which, I am guessing is the reason why I can see the invitation. When I send an invite attachment (.ics file) from Thunderbird (or Yahoo! Mail) and open the mail it in Outlook Mobile - it doesn't even show the attachment. Why is this? Is this some kind of ploy
to sell more Exchange Servers?

I believe the content of this attachment and the normal .ics file attachment are the same, the VCALENDAR format.

I really hope that this behavior is changed in Windows Mobile 6.1 (and is available for my phone) as I already have the latest Office Mobile - which was just updated a few months ago.

I guess this is why people constantly bash MS.

Mann, thank you for your response. No attachments sent from Yahoo mail will show up on my Windows 10 mail. Attachments and pictures from Google mail will come through in addition to mail from other mail clients. It just seems to be Yahoo mail for whatever
reason. I have tried turning off my anti-virus and it hasn't helped. Something is preventing them from coming through. They don't even show up as being sent. Text comes through, attachments with it doesn't not.

 

Yahoo no longer supports IE 11


Resurrected this thread because I've found a workaround/fix for this problem, as it turns out it is a Microsoft problem. Happened to see a topic on a Yahoo Forum titled "Yahoo Mail switches to Basic view after installing Windows 10 Anniversary Update" I've posted a screen shot of the post below. I did what was suggested and it worked immediately on both computers that had this problem. Tools > Compatibility View settings uncheck "Use Microsoft compatibility lists"

Now the problem is actually resolved thanks to Arcazeon on the Yahoo Forum *Biggrin
