Windows 10: Minecraft Accounts + Repurchase

All I want to be able to do is play on a server my friend is creating on XBOX. But I don't *have* an XBOX, so I decided to do it through my laptop, not realizing that would become an even bigger headache.

I bought Minecraft back in...gosh, 2016 or so, through Mojang, and created a Mojang account. My whole family has used this copy of Minecraft for years now and it's never been an issue no matter what we wanted to do with it--we've moved it from PC to PC, from laptop to laptop, even from console to console. I'm now using it on a Win10 HP laptop.

I tried to simply switch to my Microsoft account, since I have one and I've used it for Minecraft Pocket Edition before. It's telling me that I don't own Minecraft, since I haven't bought it through Microsoft. Instead of purchasing it again which I really do not want to do, I decided to link my two accounts...but it won't let me. I can't find any button on either the Mojang nor the Microsoft sites that will let me "link" my accounts. All I see is "migrate," which leads me to my questions.


1. Are "link" and "migrate" the same thing?

2. How do I "link" my account?
3. If I must "migrate" instead, how much longer will I have to wait until I can do that?

Can I download Minecraft on PC without repurchasing it?

Hello,

I played Minecraft on my PS4 for a long time, and by that, I want to play on PC. But it looks like I have to repurchase Minecraft since I can't really create a Minecraft account and connect it to my Microsoft account before purchasing.

Can we actually download Minecraft on PC (whether is Java or Bedrock) without repurchasing even when we already purchased it in console?

If we can't, can Mojang add a feature like that?

Homegroup For Minecraft Servers Or What?

It looks as if the existing minecraft server will use the new system without modification - It needs to be able to access the computers on the network in a two way link, which is the standard for Workgroup and Homegroup

It's not something I have any direct experience with but a quick read suggests to me that you will not need to do Much if any reconfiguration of the existing server

Once you got a Minecraft account, you have to PM newtekie1 with your Minecraft username so he can add you to the safe list and give you the address to the server.
