Windows 10: Minecraft - Failed to login Win10 v1.16.40

I am a regular player sometimes daily player of Minecraft. I have run into challenges before and have been able to find some resource to fix/repair them. This time I am stuck and am looking for wisdom.


I have received the following error when trying to sign in:


Failed to login - "We tried to sign you in to your Microsoft Account. but something went wrong."


I am then given the option to close the window.


I would post a screen shot but I then discovered no screen shots. Something has happened to my gamebar/Xbox connection/app/program here on my pc. tried SNIP but MC window closes


Relevant info:

• - I am able to sign into my account from all other devices and locations.
• - All passwords work and are strong.
• - Updated windows store
• - Minecraft v1.16.40
• - Was signed in and able to play the day before.

Homegroup For Minecraft Servers Or What?

It looks as if the existing minecraft server will use the new system without modification - It needs to be able to access the computers on the network in a two way link, which is the standard for Workgroup and Homegroup

It's not something I have any direct experience with but a quick read suggests to me that you will not need to do Much if any reconfiguration of the existing server

• What is the Windows 10 Version and Build installed? (Type winver
  in Windows search/Run command)
• Are you signing in with the same Microsoft Account, you used at the time of purchase?
• What is the complete error message are you receiving while login?

Meanwhile, we would suggest you to perform these steps and check if the issue persists.



Step 1: Reset the app.

1. Press Windows + I key to open Windows
   Settings.
   
2. Click on Apps and select
   Apps & feature from the left pane.
   
3. Scroll and look for the Minecraft app.
   
4. Select the app and click on Advanced option.
   
5. Click on Reset and once you see a tick mark, then relaunch and check.

There's about 40 people on the safe list so you are likely to run into a few. XD

Once you got a Minecraft account, you have to PM newtekie1 with your Minecraft username so he can add you to the safe list and give you the address to the server.
