Windows 10: Minecraft Java code only gives free trial of the Windows 10 Edition

I just recently wanted to play with my friend on the PC who owns a switch and found I could only do that with the Windows 10 Edition of Minecraft. Since I had owned the game for years I was able to redeem a code to get the Windows 10 Edition for free since that's what it told me I could do. I downloaded the game and created a world, only to find that I was given a 90 minute trial for each world I played, while it told me I should buy the "Starter Edition", where I could play with my friends and without the timer, for an extra 30$. I tried using my code to see if I could get the Starter Edition but it said I already redeemed the code. So unless I used my code wrong to get the actual version of the game, I see the "Free Minecraft Windows 10 code for users with old Java accounts" advertisement as very misleading and it seems like I spent my time to redeem a code only to have an advertisement for the real Windows 10 version thrown in my face.

Purchased Multiple Copies Of Minecraft Versions, But Need Minecraft - Java Edition.

Mojang refunds policy and check their refund policy.



If you want to swap your editions of Minecraft that you have purchased, please
Contact Mojang Support and they will help you with this.



If you have purchased Minecraft from Microsoft Store, then I suggest you to refer
Returning items you bought from Microsoft Store for exchange or refund
and check if you can get a refund.



As you need the Java Edition of Minecraft, you can follow the steps mentioned in
How do I install Minecraft: Java Edition? and install
the Java Edition of Minecraft on your computer.



Before purchasing the Java Edition of Minecraft, I suggest you to refer the system requirements for installing the Java Edition of Minecraft from
Minecraft: Java Edition system requirements.

experience launching trouble (unable to update native launcher window error message)

I redeem the windows 10 code and got the app running.

still the shortcut to the original java exe gives me the same error windows.

I want to register to minecraft class online that require the java edition.
