Windows 10: Minecraft Java Not Working On Windows 10

Ok, so i got minecraft java. My pc was on windows 7 at the time and it was running perfectly. I then realized that i could upgrade to windows 10 so i did. But now going to windows 10 i cannot play minecraft anymore. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the minecraft folder. Nothing worked.

I bought the java edition of minecraft.

experience launching trouble (unable to update native launcher window error message)

I redeem the windows 10 code and got the app running.

still the shortcut to the original java exe gives me the same error windows.

I want to register to minecraft class online that require the java edition.

Trying to make Java work on Windows 10

First, go here:
Verify Java Version
and verify java is installed and working.

I.e. separate the issues of java and optifine. If that test is ok, Java should be ok. The problem is then how you handle your applications.


Optifine is (apparently) distributed as a .jar file.
It does not appear straightforward. See below.

Once resolved, decide if you actually need Java installed.
