Windows 10: Minecraft Launcher cannot install Minecraft java edition

Hello, so this happened after I tried to reset my computer. The reset couldn’t complete so I decided to leave it as is and when I tried to open Minecraft it kept giving me an error when trying to reinstall. It would often be stuck like in the beginning when trying to install Java edition and then just give up and say “failed to download file”. Then if I would try to hit play again it would go straight to the error “unable to locate Java runtime”. I have tried everything from disabling firewall. Reinstalling drivers. Reinstalling launcher. Clearing java executable. Wiping computer again. Downlo

Minecraft Windows 10 Edition - Java

Hello, recently I received a gift code for minecraft windows 10 edition. I activated it, works good, but it gave me acces to the minecraft launcher and I saw the message that it should give you minecraft java edition too. "Because you own Minecraft for Windows, you'll get Minecraft: Java Edition as a bonus!" The problem is I didn't receive java edition and it only says Play Demo

 

Purchased Multiple Copies Of Minecraft Versions, But Need Minecraft - Java Edition.

If you have purchased several copies of Minecraft from Mojang, then I suggest you to refer the
Mojang refunds policy and check their refund policy.



If you want to swap your editions of Minecraft that you have purchased, please
Contact Mojang Support and they will help you with this.



If you have purchased Minecraft from Microsoft Store, then I suggest you to refer
Returning items you bought from Microsoft Store for exchange or refund
and check if you can get a refund.



As you need the Java Edition of Minecraft, you can follow the steps mentioned in
How do I install Minecraft: Java Edition? and install
the Java Edition of Minecraft on your computer.



Before purchasing the Java Edition of Minecraft, I suggest you to refer the system requirements for installing the Java Edition of Minecraft from
Minecraft: Java Edition system requirements.

Minecraft for Windows not available on the Minecraft Launcher

I've already downloaded and installed Minecraft for Windows from the Microsoft Store.

I've also opened it (not from the Minecraft Launcher) and logged in to my Microsoft Account (the same one I'm using on my Minecraft Launcher).

The game works perfectly fine. However, if I try to open the official Minecraft Launcher, the game is still marked as incompatible and it won't let me launch the game from there.

I know I could just launch it without the Minecraft Launcher, but it'd be nice to be able to launch it from the Minecraft Launcher just like I would do it with Minecraft Java Edition.

Is there a way to fix this?
