Windows 10: Minecraft Launcher says w10 version 'incompatible with launcher version, download new...

Basically what the title says. Trying to play Minecraft Windows 10 version, but clicking the link just reopens the launcher on the same page. on the other screen it will open what appears to be a new game window, but that is just a crash notification. clicking on the link just repeats this cycle.no other game versions are thusly affected. only the windows 10 version-- which is, of course, what the kids want to play.pic of what this looks likeI have tried:*making sure pc, minecraft, drivers, and all software are up to date*resetting microsoft store*uninstalling and reinstalling launcher from wi

Minecraft Windows incompatible with Minecraft Launcher

I've been having the subject issue since I migrated to the Launcher a few months ago. I was able to work around by looking up Minecraft in the App History tab of the Task Manager and switching to it. However, yesterday I tried the reinstall fix I found via Google. I removed Minecraft and the Launcher, reinstalled the Launcher, then used that to reinstall Minecraft.

It worked, but I lost THREE YEARS of game saves. However, this morning, 24h later its showing incompatible again! Is there a permanent, safe, fix for this?

Hi, In the compatibility mode in the shortcut properties, please select Windows 7 as compatibility mode and check.
