Windows 10: mini pcs / modern standby issues

Hi,I am having the following issues on 2 different AMD Ryzen 8x45HS mini pcs for months, Microsoft support by phone or remote session cannot help and points to a firmware issue. I reinstalled windows with fresh .iso or the .iso provided by the manufacturers and drivers dozens of times already and the pc manufacturers only offer replacement what I already tried or a refund.Following issues appear on BOTH PCs from different manufacturers and with different hardware on Windows 23H2 and 24H2:1. PC only goes to 2 watt low power idle with updated LAN network drivers. Stays "active" solid led

How do I re-enable my modern standby sleep mode (S0)?

Modern standby (S0) is indeed designed to allow for faster wake times, which can be convenient for many users. However, one drawback is that it doesn't allow the PC to fully shut down, which means it may continue consuming some power even when in sleep mode. While wake times may be slightly longer compared to modern standby, S3 can be preferable for those who prioritize power efficiency and want to ensure their laptop doesn't generate excess heat during periods of inactivity. Here are the steps to enable Modern standby:

1. Open Registry Editor:
   
   • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
     
   • Type regedit and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
     
2. Navigate to the Power Settings:
   
   • In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following path:
     
     
3. Modify the Registry Key:
   
   • Look for the PlatformAoAcOverride key.
     
   • If it exists, right-click on it and select Delete.
     
   • If it does not exist, you can skip this step.
     
4. Enable Modern Standby:
   
   • Open an elevated Command Prompt (right-click on Command Prompt and select "Run as administrator").
     
   • Enter the following command to delete the registry entry that disables Modern Standby:
     
     
5. Restart Your Computer:
   
   • Restart your computer to apply the changes.
     

Verify Modern Standby (S0) is Enabled

1. Open Command Prompt:
   
   • Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
     
2. Run Power Configuration Command:
   
   • Type the following command and press Enter:
     
     
   • This command will list the available sleep states. Look for "Standby (S0 Low Power Idle)" to confirm that Modern Standby is enabled.

Windows 10 Modern Standby (Modern Standby) expands the Windows 8.1 Connected Standby power model. Connected Standby, and consequently Modern Standby, enable an instant on / instant off user experience, similar to smartphone power models. Just like
the phone, the S0 low power idle model enables the system to stay up-to-date whenever a suitable network is available.

Can't enable Modern Standby

You need an exclusively UEFI PC (without Legacy support) for Modern/Connected, at least it's what I've heard. I guess if that Z390 doesn't have it, I am not really expecting any consumer desktops to implement it, I assume it would require manufacturers to kinda rewrite their BIOS. It is also indirectly suggested on Anandtech that the feature depends on the onboard WiFi:

Personally I love my Ethernet cables and 1Gbit speeds, and WiFi would be the last thing I'd do to my PC, but I would like to test this feature when I buy a new PC, since Z370 is clearly out of question. Considering that Z390 basically has onboard WiFi and Z370 doesn't , it further solidifies this as a potential WiFi only feature. Maybe it's possible for the PC to switch to WiFi for Connected Standby and then back to wire after it wakes up? That would be nice.

Edit: there's also this:
"Modern Standby is only available on some SoC systems. When it's supported, the system does not support S1-S3."

Yeah... S3 is the "normal" standby. So if your firmware manufacturer supports that, it's bye-bye Modern? Ouch.
