I'm using more like attempting to use my old laptop as a second monitor via Miracast projection, which gets me as far as the "_____ is about to project" loading screen on the laptop and the small screen shrink/expand animation on my main monitor. I have the ability to give audio output to my laptop and everything, but it doesn't go through. I've tried updating/reinstalling any related drivers Wireless Display, both Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapters, the Miracast display device, my device's Display adapter, everything. I've restarted both pcs countless times, disconnected and reconnec

    Miracast and screen projection

    Hi,

i recently learned about the win10 miracast projection feature.

Somehow it does not work for me, although DxDiag says: Miracast: Available, with HDCP

As far as i found out, Miracast requires a wifi connection.

    Here is my setup:

    • Laptop with latest Win10 connected to WPA2 secured Wifi Network
Seems to be ready for screen mirroring.

    • Desktop PC with latest Win10 connected via LAN to a Wifi Router and has no wireless connection other than Bluetooth.
System settings say: does not support Miracast.

Is there any possibility to make it work over LAN and the Wifi Router? Any options I could look for in the Router settings, or Windows network setting? Would a Wifi Card or Dongle plugged into my PC would do the trick?

    Kind regards

    Stefan

Unable to project PC screen to TV

    Hi Saidy,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are not able to project the PC screen to TV. It would be great if you can answer these questions to assist you in a better way.

    1. What is the make and model of the PC and TV?
    2. What happens when you try to project to TV?
    3. Were you able to project the laptop screen to TV earlier?

Miracast is a wireless technology your PC can use to project your screen to TVs, projectors, and streaming media players that also support Miracast. You can use this to share what you’re doing on your
PC, present a slide show, or even play your favorite game on a larger screen.

I suggest you refer and follow the suggestions from
Fix connections to wireless displays or docks

    Additional Information:

Project to a wireless display with Miracast.

    Hope it helps.

    Regards,

    Zaki

Miracast does not want to move off of the '____ is about to project' screen on my old laptop.

TV not listed in the projection options (miracast)

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I would request you to update the wireless and firmware drivers on your Computer as there is a possibility that basic drivers were installed after the update. Also make sure that visibility is turned on while adding the wireless display. Once
the drives are updates, then try to connect the display. You can follow the suggestions provided in the articles:

If you need any additional assistance, please write back with the following information:

    1. Have you tried connecting the TV to any other device?
    2. What is the make and model of the TV and Laptop?

    Regards,
