Windows 10: Miracast not working on Windows 10 after Update

1] Run Network Adapter Troubleshooter




This solution requires you to run the Network Adapter Troubleshooter and see if the issue will be resolved. If not, try the next solution.

2] Update device drivers


This problem could be also due to an old network card driver. In this case, you can either update your drivers manually via the Device Manager, or you can get the driver updates on the Optional Updates section under Windows Update.

You can also download the latest version of the driver from the Network adapter manufacturer’s website.

3] Ensure that the essential Services are running

• Press Windows key + R to invoke the Run dialog.
• In the Run dialog box, type services.msc and hit Enter to open Services.
• In the Services window, scroll and locate the services below.
  • DNS Client
  • Function Discovery Resource Publication
  • SSDP Discovery
  • UPnP Device Host
• If any of these services are not running, double-click on them one by one and click on the Start button under the Service status section.
• Exit Services console.

Check if you can now cast to devices – if the issue persists, try the next solution.

4] Enable Network Discovery




To be able to cast to device, the network sharing feature has to be enabled on your Windows 10 computer. You can check if Network Discovery is enabled on your computer. Also enable File and printer sharing.

5] Turn on Media Streaming




To turn on media streaming on your Windows 10 device, do the following:

• Press Windows key on your keyboard.
• Type Media Streaming Options in the search bar.
• Select it from the result.
• In the window that opens, click on Turn on media streaming.
• Click OK.

Now, you should be able to cast to devices again.

Windows 10 and Miracast what's going wrong?

A couple of months after I tried the TH2 update for Windows 10 that broke my ability to use miracast with my Intel Wireless-AC 7260 (Gigabyte GC-WB867D-I), it went wrong yesterday all of a sudden my pc couldn't fint my Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter again, i found my laptop i use at work with Windows 8.1 Pro it find and connect my MWDA without a problem, then I firmware updated my MWDA and it still not helping.

Now I tried updating my Windows with the "MediaCreationTool.exe" so i am now running Windows 10 Pro Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.36) and I still can't find my MWDA, but i can connect and use wireless and bluetooth no problem, so i guess it's just not gonna happen for me to use miracast with my desktop pc *Frown

I haven't had all these problems in Windows 8.1 Pro it's like Microsoft broke miracast with Windows 10 and there is a lot of threads about miracast problems, yet I haven't found a solution that works for me.

So if anyone got smth I can try to get it to work I will be happy, and I have already tested several drivers from Intel same thing, no Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter found.

Miracast not Working

Hi Albert,

There's a possibility that an automatic may have occurred or there could be changes performed on your computer that have caused your Miracast to stop working. The device driver currently installed may no longer be compatible.
