    As I wasn't sure which category was correct this may appear twice; my apologies in advance. It looks like others are experiencing similar issues to mine...possibly relating to recent updates?


    At least I'm glad to know it's not just me! I am attempting Miracast from my HP desktop to my ROKU streaming stick for the first time. It looks like it's really trying for a short while as I'm getting the pairing icons on the TV, then the 'allow/don't allow' prompt, then 'can't connect'.

    I've done everything this 74 year old techno-novice can do or verify; now I need help. This is what I've been able to find so far:

    1. My desktop shows in my Roku's Allowed Devices.

    2. My Roku shows in my Devices and Settings.

    3. Pressing 'Connect' in the Action Center only produces the TV is displaying 'Video starting from desktop with a loading bar' and seconds later 'Couldn't connect'.

    4. I looked in the Device Manager and found the Miracast as well as my Roku Streaming Stick with all drivers up to date. But, interestingly, when I looked inside the Properties with a little digging I found this:

    Device SWD\WiFiDirect\8AMiracast :DE:A9:65:00:75#Miracast requires further installation.


    I'm glad I decided to take a look at this forum and learn of others with similar issues. For 2 days I thought this Dummmmmie did something wrong again, but now I don't know what else to do. All help much appreciated. Larry

    Let me suggest you to contact the manufacturer of Miracast. To contact the manufacturer, please follow the steps below:

    • The name of the OEM + “contact information”
    • The name of the OEM + “PC support”

    Does Miracast support 4K?

    Hello,

    We suggest that you check with the manufacturer of the 4k display device that you are using if it is certified to work with Miracast. If your display device is certified to work with Miracast, then check if your PC device supports Miracast. You may do so
    by following the steps below:

    • Click Start, then go to Settings >
      Projecting to this PC
      .
    • Check if your device supports Miracast.

    I understand that you are unable to play videos using Miracast. We will help you to resolve the issue.

    I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the driver and check if it helps.

    Steps to uninstall and reinstall driver.

    • Press “Windows key + X” and click on “Device Manager”.
    • In the list of devices, you should see the Miracast driver.
    • Right click on the device and then select "Uninstall".
    • In the uninstall dialog, make sure you select the option to delete the driver package from the system. This causes the driver package installed earlier to be deleted.
    • In the Action menu of Device manager, select “Scan for Hardware changes”
      option. This will cause the device driver to be reinstalled. Once the driver is installed, close all windows and restart the computer.
