  1. missing battery meter

Updated my wife's laptop with windows 10 and now is missing the battery meter (charging, power left also no warning on screen when low power) going to the notification area properties the option to turn power icon is completely greyed out and unselectable. Fully up to date and have ran a sweep for errors with SFC/scannow and returned no errors. Any help?

    :)

  5. Same here bud. Not worried about locations too much but sudden shutdowns because of not knowing you have low battery is annoying as hell.

Go to device manager disable both 'Microsoft AC Adapter' and 'Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery'
    Then Re-Enable them again.

Let me know how it goes...

Just installed the upgrade... Up to now this seems to be the only glitch... The above didn't help...
    Any more ideas? *Smile

    missing battery meter

Well, that's funny!... *Biggrin Suddenly the battery icon came up, hours after installation and trying out things... Is Win10 a self learning miracle worker? Or maybe it only comes up when it gets necessary?

I'll wait and see what it does next when my battery is full again but it seems to be solved...
    Sorry about bothering you *Wink

  9. HOW?

    By itself?

Yep! That was exactly my reaction! *Biggrin

Then I waited till the battery was full and unplugged the cable. The icon stayed. I rebooted and it was gone again... I'll see tomorrow what happens when the battery runs low again (we're on different hours, I assume - here it is just past midnight)... I'll let you know if it comes back or if it is really a bug having a lough with us... But if it indeed only comes up when you need to know, someone should have told us *sarc...

  11. actually I think we're on about the same hours *Wink CET, that is...

So what - it showed up when YOU reached critical mass - and the computer reached 10 or so % unplugged?

Good morning missing battery meter :)

Well, that is indeed more or less what happened... Bit confusing, really... ;-)
Now, this morning, the icon is there - even on the lock screen this time... Wonder if it will stay now...
Is someone looking into the computers that have Win10 installed to correct these things maybe - or the computer sending info all the time? I wonder... And if yes, though it seems to help, I don't know if I like that idea... :-/

After restart too... it seems to have found its way...*Wink

But I found another glitch... Normally it should be a new post but it affects the power icon too - so I'll just go on here...
The num lock only activates after login, it seems. A minor but irritating problem when you have numbers in your password. Win8 (another laptop) had that problem too and I had found a fix for it, unticking 'fast start' in Power Options. So I applied it to the 10. And guess what... power icon disappeared again... and the computer turned rather sluggish too as it had not done with Win8. So I undid that... Power icon is back... *sarc

Lets see if that will correct itself too...*Wink

  15. I'm seeing some posts out there for the missing battery icon, this one being the most prominent. Not sure if a lot of people are having the same issue, but since millions of people received the upgrade recently, I'm sure we'll start seeing more posts about it.

In any case, my battery icon is missing from the notification area/tray, and it's also grayed out for me in the settings page, and as such I can't set it to ON. I followed the FAQ on the Microsoft website, and still can't resolve the issue: I am the system administrator for my computer, so that's not the problem, and my laptop does have a battery, so that is not the problem, either.

Unfortunately, unlike the original poster, my battery icon hasn't magically appeared, as of yet.
