  1. Missing Drives After Win10 Upgrade

I finally upgraded to Win10 Home 64bit (1904) from Win7 Home 64bit due to lack of Win7 support in new games. At the same time I upgraded from Intel 3930K/X79 to 10700K/Z450. I put off upgrading for a long time, but the X79 was getting long in the tooth and I wanted access to GEN 3 USB and M.2 drives. I added a 2TB 970EVO for the system drive. My old Win7 install was on a RAID 0 on two Samsung EVO 500GB SSDs and I had two older Intel 240GB SSDs as storage. I planned to use the 2 Samsung 500GB SATA drives as back-up storage and for game service install folders for services other than Steam. I installed the M.2 and hooked up the 500GB drives to SATA 1 & 2 on the MB (ASUS Maximus WIFI). The issue I'm having is Windows 10 does not see the two 500GB SSDs at all. They are not listed in disk management nor when i run DISKPART. I was going to recreate the volumes with GPT and format them for reuse. They ARE recognized in the BIOS without issue. The BIOS is set to AHCI. My questions are as follows:

    1. Why does Win10 not see the drives? I expected it could not read them due to their originally being part of a RAID0, but shouldn't it at least see them as unrecognized disks so I can re purpose them?

    2. How do I go about deleting the old info and using them in Win10?

    3. Bonus question: if I set the BIOS to RAID can I rebuild the RAID 0 and multi boot the system to either 10 or 7? I expect the answer is no due to the old RAID 0 being built with Win7 C600 Intel IRST drivers, but I thought I would ask if there is a way you can do this.

    :)

  2. DVD drive missing after upgrading to Windows 10

    Hi Rita,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community and being part of Windows 10.

I understand your concern about DVD drive missing on your device. We will help you with this issue.

Do let us know the make and model of your device?

This issue might have occurred due to corrupted/ outdated drivers after upgrading to Windows 10. Try the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: If the drive is being detected in Device Manager try the below to update the drivers:

      • Right click on Start button and select
        Device Manager.

      • Expand DVD/CD ROM drives, right click on the drivers and click on
        Update driver software.

      • Restart the computer and check if the issue persists.

    Step 2:
If the device is not detected on your computer try to run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

Hardware and Devices troubleshooter checks for common problems and makes sure that any new device or hardware connected to your PC is installed correctly.

    • Press Windows key from the keyboard, type
      Troubleshooting and select it.
    • Click on view all option on the upper left corner of
      Troubleshooting window.
    • Select the Hardware and Device options from the list.
    • Click Next to run the Hardware and Device
      Troubleshooter.

I suggest you to refer to the responses in the thread and check if it helps:

    Stuck in Windows 10 Upgrade

My computer seems to be stuck in a Windows 10 failed upgrade loop. I was running fine on a beta version of Windows 10, and then I came downstairs one morning to see it repeatedly booting, attempting to repair, then rebooting. The steps I've taken to diagnose are:

    • Attempting to boot off a USB drive (with all drives disabled in BIOS) - this fails at the point of the blue windows screen
    • Attempting to boot the machine itself and getting into "repair/safe mode" using F7
    • Looking at the BIOS for obvious failures (e.g. RAM that should be there is missing) - nothing obvious is wrong.

I am fairly certain the build version was 9926. For many months, the system would attempt to upgrade, and then say "it failed" for some reason and roll back.

    Suggestions for next steps?

Why did the startup window get cleared?

I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.
