Windows 10: Missing ethernet adapter

I've spent the last 2 days trying to figure out how to solve this. For some reason the ethernet adapter vanished and I cannot get it working again. Background: About a week ago I replaced my motherboard, CPU, and RAM because my old system was getting very dated. I used my old SSD's with my old windows install as I was under the impression I could plug & play and keep all my data. Well, a few hiccups later I managed to get them to boot with CSM support. Everything seemed fine until I tried to put the system to sleep. The system wouldn't post when waking up from sleep. I thought maybe it

IP configuration not valid - interference from ethernet adapter?

Solution 1: No Internet Access In Windows 8.1or Windows 10

Step 1:

Go to Device Manager → Network adapters.
Step 2:

Expand it (Network adapters).


Step 3:

Select your network adapter


Step 4:

Right click on your wireless network adapter or Ethernet adapter and then tap “Update Driver Software”.
(in this case your network adopter is Ethernet adopter so tap your Ethernet adapter)
Step 5:

Now on a new window you will need to click on “Browse my computer for driver software”.




Step 6:

Then select “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer”.



Step 7:

Now choose the “Manufacturer’s drivers” from the list of two and then click next.



Step 8:

After the completion of the process just restart your PC and check if the problem is solved or not. If not, goto solution 2.



Solution 2: No Internet Access In Windows 8.1,windows10

Step 1:

Open command prompt.
Step 2:

Just go on hitting the enter after typing the each command.
netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disable
netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled
Step 3:

Now to check if the settings are disabled type:
netsh int tcp show global
then hit enter.
Step 4:

Now the thing left is just rebooting your system and just check if the problem is solved or not and just give feedback.*chuckle*Thumbs

 

Laptop > Ethernet adapter goes missing

also, I can't even do this step:

Do the same steps for your Ethernet as above for Wi-Fi

as the ethernet adapter is not present - which was the gist of my original post

 

Ethernet adapters missing

This is confusing because adapter can be either WI-FI or ethernet, but not 2 ethernet one of which is WI-FI.

Please follow steps below to share system information file:

1. Click on Windows button
2. Type msinfo32 on your keyboard
3. Right click on "System Information" and Run as Administrator
4. If asked for password enter your password and click OK
5. Click on: File -> Save...
6. Save the file to C:\ root drive
8. Zip up this file and attach to your reply

You either connect computer with LAN cable to router or use WI-FI, having both connections is place is not as simple so you have to make your choice.
