Missing file error when I restart. Caused by recent update?

So today I restarted my laptop for the first time in a while and got an error message come up saying:
"Windows cannot find 'C:\Users\******\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Intel\run.bat'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."

When I checked the file it was trying to access the "Intel" folder is empty. After seeking help from Windows, they recommended an in place upgrade or something, now none of the folders exist from "AppData" onwards.

My laptop did do an update about a week or so ago and I'm just wondering if this is related to the update at all? I read the October update was causing some file loss?

I've only had this laptop like 3 months and want to get any errors sorted ASAP.

    :)

    ...

you get the idea. ( too lazy to put it in a for loop and test it.

or just open regedit and remove all the fileX from that key.

  4. Missing file error when I restart. Caused by recent update?

    missing ntdlr file

hi. i recently tried to update xp service pack 2 to service pack 3, but for some odd reason it stopped half way and wouldnt finish. so i cancelled and restarted my computer. Well when i restarted it, xp wouldnt boot and it kept saying "File ntdlr is missing. press control + alt + delete to restart" (I believe that is the correct file name)

so if you do that it just continues to make a circle. is there any way i can use my xp disk to repair and add this file. if so, how?

or is there any alternate options.

    thanks for the help.
