    Have an annoying quirk with my Windows 10 Pro 64 bit PC

    If I go into 'settings' - then update and security - fine.
    But when I click on View installed update history, up comes a blank page with no detail. Your suggestions on how to overcome this annoyance appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

    :)

  2. Missing photo information

    With Windows 7 I was able to open photo files outside Photo Gallery and enter information about the image e.g. title, location etc. With Windows 10 photo gallery opens files by default and I cannot access the information I have placed on that image.
    The basics are accessible but not my titles etc. Is it possible to open photo files outside of photo gallery? Another example of unnecessary change. Why do you do this?

    Hi, what's your current Windows build?
    (Windows key + R, winver).

    Have a look here too:

    If you've done an upgrade without further updates, the Update History will be wiped.

    Hi, thanks. It's a quirk/oddity/bug that keeps recurring for a few people. It's been suggested that it happens if Windows update is reset. Reported since at least build 1607.

    If you search this forum for
    Update History vanished
    for example you'll find a few threads. I don't think there's an immediate solution- there was one comment that it eventually repopulates.

    E.g.

    Windows Update History Blank - Windows 10 Forums

    I guess it's just too bad. Sux to be you. And sux to be me, too. *Sad

    I tried wmic to see the Windows updates. I updated to FCU a week or so ago, so Windows updates do not appear.
    Code: --> wmic qfe list full Security Update KB4053577 01/08/2018 Update KB4054022 01/05/2018 Security Update KB4056887 01/10/2018 Update KB4058043 01/08/2018 Update KB4058702 01/11/2018 Security Update KB4056892 01/12/2018[/quote] Using the Installed Updates panel I get those same six Windows Updates ... plus all of the Office and Visual Studio updates.
    But either way ... I only see those Windows updates installed AFTER updating to FCU. You might also usefully look at update records in Event viewer -

    1 Applications and services logs, Microsoft, Windows, WindowsUpdateClient, Operational, Events - 41, 31 {41 = successful update downloads, 31 = update download failures}
    2 Windows logs, Setup {this records particular updates but not them all; it includes Event 4 restart warnings and Event 2 installation successful}
    3 Windows logs, System, EventSources - WindowsUpdateClient, Event - 19 {update installation successes only}

    Notes
    • I find the presentation of #3 quite easy to export then work with because the description pane's General tab identifies the update concerned [whereas #1 forces you to dig inside the Details tab and that tab is not exported].
    • Note that #3 includes updates to Apps making it, as far as I have been able to find out, the only place where App updates are identified.
    • I only find #2 useful if I'm chasing down problems after having found an update listed in #1 but not in #3.
    • I do not yet understand what gets included in #2; no pattern is apparent.

    Hi guys
    thank you much for your thoughts. Being just a novice - some of your comments are way beyond my level of understanding - but I will try (when I have a moment or two) to slowly work through your suggestions
    Thanks again.
