    Missing Microsoft Defender Antivirus


    Greetings, l am currently facing an issue whereby I have recieved a notification that action is needed for my windows security. Upon investiagting, I noticed that an error appeared under the virus and threat protection and the error reads as following: No active antivirus provider. Your device is vulnerable.I then clicked on manage providers and I see that it states that 'Microsoft Defender Antivirus is turned off'. Naturally I click on the tab to see if there is any way to turn it on.     Defender AntiVirus

    There are 4 options under Defender. Two refer to AntiVirus; AntiVirus Network Inspection Service & AntiVirus Services. Under Startup Type these two are listed as manual and the Status column said Inspection Service is running. When I clicked on the Start
    button in Properties, I got an immediate message: "Win.. Def.. Anti.. Serv.. on local comp.. started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."

    Windows Defender Missing

    Hey there, just noticed i missing windows defender?

    What happened?

    • Used to have malwarebytes installed, but removed it. Decided to rely only on microsoft and their defender/security intelligence features.
    • Also have installed iObit Uninstaller and it reports too there is no antivirus installed on my laptop.
    • Cant find windows defender folder in registry. Watched few online solutions of how to find and see if defender running or is up-to-date and all videos had files in registry editor -> windows defender folder, as you can see in screen shot I dont
    • Cant find in Local group policy editor too. Microsoft Defender Antivirus folder present but also no Windows Defender folder

    Whats going on? Where is my defender lol. I run win10 pro for workstations.

    Freaking windows yo, but used to him.

    Defender AntiVirus

    Hello,

    Thank you for sharing this to Microsoft Community. Let's try to start Windows Defender services and see if it helps. Follow these steps:

    • Press Windows + R key and type
      Missing Microsoft Defender Antivirus [​IMG]
      Services.msc and press Enter.
    • Search for the service "Windows Defender".
    • Right click on "Windows Defender" and click Properties.
    • Click Start button.
    • Click Apply and Ok to save changes.
    • Restart the computer and check.

    Let us know how it goes.
