Windows 10: missing micrphone boost

hi, just recently updated to windows 11 but my microphone is being limited as my voice is barely being picked up, tried looking for solutions and people say to just boost the input however i seem to be missing that option.I've gone through the control panel, device manager, tried updating drivers etc and to no luck. every time I try and talk to my friend i have to near enough shout, when i test the microphone it only says about 1% of power usage.

I did all the steps listed, but as shown in the screenshot above there is no Microphone Boost slider to modify. And in the "Custom" tab the Microphone Boost box is check-marked so I have no idea why its not showing.

Hey Jing,

As a first step, I suggest you to try installing all updates including the update from audio drivers from Windows Update or from computer manufacturer's website and check if the issue persists. This is to check if this is caused due to any update or
driver related issues.

Also check the volume and boost levels in the device properties in recording devices:

• Press Windows + X
  keys and click on Control Panel.
• Click in Sound, then a new window will open up.
• In the new windows click on the tab Recording and right click in the window and click on
  Show Disabled devices.
• Now check if Microphone is listed there and right click on it and choose
  Properties.
• After checking the volume and boost levels, check if the volume bar next to Microphone move when you talk or tap it.

Also suggest you to run “Playing audio” troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

  Type “Troubleshooter” in the Search box and hit enter.
  
• 
  Select “Hardware and Sound” from the Troubleshooter Window.
  
• 
  Select “Playing Audio” under Sound option.
  
• 
  Follow the On Screen instructions.

Why did the startup window get cleared?

I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.
