Windows 10: Missing photos when transfer from SD to PC

I have a windows 10PC. I inserted the SD card from my camera. I opened the folder that contained the pictures I wanted to transfer to my PC. I selected all the photos, CTL+AI Cut all the photos, CTL+XI navigated to a new fold I had created on my desktopI pasted the photos, CTL+Vonly the older photos appeared in the new desktop folder and ALL photos were now absent from the SD folderI did a CTL+Z to move it all back to the SD card, but the new photos are not visible. I should not the photo on the cover of the folder is still there and it one of the new missing photos.Where are my missin
