Windows 10: missing start menu / taskbar

Hi. I purchased a cheap fanless PCHYerobox from Amazon that came preloaded with Windows 10. I installed software and configured the taskbar the way I liked it and was happy with the performance. One day the taskbar / start menu disappeared and I don't know how to get it back. I tried all the suggested fixes I culd google. I couldn't get a human on the phone. I could REALLY use some help here!Ed

Here are the possible causes why Taskbar and Start menu don't work:

• Corrupted user profile
• Corrupted or missing system files
  

Since running SFC didn't resolve the issue, we suggest creating a new user account
to recreate your Taskbar and Start menu.

We would appreciate an update about how it went.

 

start menu tab missing from win10 "taskbar and start menu properties"

I am trying to clear the history list in start menu and taskbar automatically recorded in win 10. However, the "start menu" tab is missing from the "taskbar and start menu properties".

There is a link to show how the "start menu" tab looks like.

But mine is missing, and also the other three tabs in "taskbar and start menu properties" might not look right. I attached snapshots for them here.






the "navigation" tab in my win 10 also looks different from the one posted on the link.

How I can bring back the "start menu" tab back to "taskbar and start menu properties"?

or is there another way to clear the history of lists the programs, files, folders, and websites that I opened from the start menu and taskbar? Thanks!

 

missing icons in start menu
