Windows 10: Missing system sounds

Hello, several times now it happens to me that my system sounds disappear. The system is Windows 11. Only the sounds are missing when I plug in the USB drive, when I empty the trash or when some notification appears in the taskbar. Otherwise, there is sound, I solve the problem by creating another account local. Why does this happen, it happens out of nowhere, how does it work and suddenly stops... Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

 

Missing sound packs?

Thanks for the quick reply. However, none of these worked, even the SFC. I believe I am just missing some of the sounds, which are found in Windows 10 10586 (1511). If somebody is able to give me their media folder online, then that would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps.

Method 1

Check if the Windows Audio Manager Service is running. To do so, follow these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + R.
  
• 
  Type “Services.msc” and press
  Enter.
  
• 
  Double-click Windows Audio Manager.
  
• 
  Set the Startup type of Windows Audio Manager to
  Manual.
  
• 
  Click Start to start the service. Click
  OK.
  

Method 2

I suggest you to try updating the Sound drivers check if it works for you. Follow the steps to update the sound driver:

• Press Windows Key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Expand ‘Sound, Video and Game Controllers’.
  
• Right-click on the Sound device listed and click on ‘Update Driver Software’.
• Select the option to automatically search for the updated driver software.
• Restart the computer after its updated and verify.

Try to access the device manufacturer's website and download and install the latest chipset and sound drivers.



Method 3: Run SFC Scan

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. Run the System File Checker (SFC) scan to fix any corrupted files. Follow these steps:
