Windows 10: Missing Thumbnails for .mp3 files in Windows

Was using my laptop yesterday and saw that for some reason my album art wasn't showing on the .mp3 files. I restarted File Explorer via Task Manager but the issue still persisted. I then used Disk Clean-Up to clear any thumbnail cache and tried again, but still no cover art thumbnails!I'm getting the thumbnails for all other extensions like .jpg, .png, .heic, .mp4, .mkv etc. but for whatever reason .mp3 isn't showing the cover art as the thumbnail despite the files definitely having the cover art embedded. I'm also missing thumbnails for file extensions like .mov & .mb4.Can someone please

Many thanks for you reply. I have done all the steps you suggested, but no change,

When I open a folder containing photos, some open correctly but the vast majority open with thumbnails, but they very quickly get overwritten and you can not longer see the thumbnails.

Are there any more suggestions?

 

Windows Explorer crashes and thumbnails problem

Hi, I hope you can help me.
Windows Explorer is no longer showing thumbnails on files played by Windows Media Player. I've run cmd and regsvr32 shmedia.dll and regsvr32 shimgvw.dll. That seemed to solve the problem...but it created a different one. Now when I try to open a folder on an external hard drive it crashes. I read in an old 2008 post it was an avi file causing the problem and suggested the run cmd regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll. That solved the opening problem but recreated the thumbnail problem. Any help to achieve both functions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

 

No thumbnails and data like 'lenght' for MP3 / MP4 / PDF

ALL IS SOLVED, steps followed:
- Ran the troubleshooter 'Windows Updates' which detected and fixed some issues
- Ran the search for Windows Updates again which now found 2 additional updates and installed them:
* KB4580419 - 2020-11 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10 version 2004 for x64
* KB4586781 - 2020-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 version 2004 for x64-based systems
- Rebooted my system and all was fine again (thumbnails of MP3/MP4/... are back, MP3 artists, titles, lengths etc are back)





Thank god for Friday the 13th of the incredible year 2020 *Biggrin
