I'm missing Windows Defender, the options to recover do not match what is available on my pc, been trying for over 3 days. Doesn't recognize me as administrator. Trys to recover but keeps buffering. I'm sure I caused this last week and of course I'm not able to backtrack.

How can I guarantee Windows defender is working optimally, recover missing files and further secure my data? Help urgently needed!

I performed a full system (Windows 10) scan using Windows defender and Windows defender detected some malware. I tried to view the report of the list of malware found and Windows defender application keeps closing unexpectedly, and keeps doing same each time I try to view the list or try to take an action. I used Norton Antivirus plus to scan my system again and after the scan it reported that eight (8) issues were discovered and resolved. However, I still noticed Windows defender displaying list of malware requiring action and when I try to view the list, window defender closed unexpectedly. Now some files are also missing from my desktop and I want my system to respond optimally (as it is slow). What could be the problems and what steps can I take to secure my system, recover missing desktop files and keep my files safe? Anyone to help, your suggestions and advice is urgently needed please? Thank you for your help!

All files on Downloads folder gone after updating windows defender

In the search box type as ‘Windows Defender’ and click on it.

Under the tab ‘History’ select the option ‘Quarantined items’.

No power options available after Windows update

Method 1.

Run SFC /Scannow to Fix Power Options Missing Issue on Windows 10 Creators Update

The power option missing or not working error in Windows 10 Creators
Update could also be caused by corrupt or missing system files. To
rule out that possibility, you could run the SFC command (System File
Checker) to repair the problematic system files and retrieve the power
options. Below is how:

Press Win + X to select Command Prompt (Admin).

Type sfc /scannow and then hit Enter. (Make sure to put a space between “sfc” and the slash.)

Type powercfg –restoredefaultschemes after the sfc /scannow command completes and then hit Enter.

Type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and hit Enter.

Reboot your computer after the process finishes and then try the Sleep, Shut down, or restart option in the power menu to check whether
the power options are available now.

Method 2.

Tweak Group Policy Editor to Resolve Windows 10 No Power Options Available after Creators Update

If running the SFC commands fails to fix the futile power options in
Windows 10, try the Group Policy Editor tweak as below tutorials.
Before the registry tweak, you’d better backup your registry first in
case of any further system issues like blue screen, black screen with
cursor, Windows Hello not working etc.

Go to Search, type gpedit.msc to open Group Policy Editor.

Navigate to the following path:

User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Start Menu and Taskbar

Double-click on "Remove and Prevent Access to the Shut Down command".

Select “Not Configured” or “Disabled” and then click Apply.

Close the Group Policy Editor and then try the power options menu to see if the sleep/hibernate/restart option functions now.

Pro Tip：

If you are a Windows 10 Home user, the Group Policy Editor is not
available. But you can run regedit to open the Registry Editor and
then follow the below path to find the missing power options back:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Ensure that a value named NoClose exists with a value of 0.

Reboot your computer and check whether the Power Options missing bug
gets fixed.

Method 3.

Add User Rights in the Local Security Settings to Get the Missing Power Options Back

Add User Rights in the Local Security Policy is also said helpfully to
repair the power options malfunction:

Press Win + R keys and type: secpol.msc and then hit Enter to open the Local Security Policy.

Go to: Security Settings –> Local Policies –> User Rights Assignment –> Shut down the system.

Choose Properties and then Add Users or Group to add your user id or group.
