Windows 10: MMC.EXE BLOCKED ACCESS Contact your Administrator

I had this issue where I could not launch computer management, device manager, and other windows applications without a error related to MMC.exe stating Contact your Administrator - access denied or MMC has no permissions to a specific windows program. I could not find a valid solution.


The solution was to launch security processor troubleshooting in Windows 10 home from the windows search text input. Just type security processor troubleshooting and then select clear TPM. This restored my administrative permissions and resulted in no data being lost. All I need to do now is reset my PIN.


There are tons of webpages out there stating they can fix this problem by modifying your registry via a exe file or doing some hap hazard work around that is not supported on Windows 10 Home. Try the troubleshooter. I hope this post finds individuals with this problem sooner rather than later because no one has the time for that.

Smartscreen blocking an EXE

• Do you get any option to save password?
• Which application are you referring to?

Follow the steps below and check if that helps.

• Right click on the shortcut or in File explorer and select Run as administrator check if that helps.
• Also observe when you type password do you get a prompt for saving password just above Taskbar.

Blocked messages and contacts

Deleting contacts from Windows 10


When you say Windows Mail Live are you referring to Mail app or Windows Live Mail?

I suggest you to try the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Open Windows Live Mail.
• Press Ctrl + 3 using your keyboard. Right-click on the contact to delete it if it is a single contact.
• Highlight all contacts by pressing Ctrl + A.
• Click Delete located on the Ribbon bar.
• Click OK when you see the message These contacts will also be deleted from Hotmail, Messenger, and other Windows Live services.

After following the steps above, all your contacts that you have manually added to your account will be deleted however, contacts coming from third-party sites such as Facebook will not be deleted unless you remove Facebook from your account.

For Mail app:

Open People app then delete the contact.
