Windows 10: .mod files cause Windows Explorer glitch

sorry for my poor englishI'm using win10 21h2when I try to open some folder containing .mod files like paradox interactive/hoi4/modor click on some .mod filesmy explorer start freezing and the other file just gone blank like it doesn't have any thumbnailso i try to restart my explorer and it doesn't workeverything still blankthen i open some random folder and i find out that it always loading on something all though i find some post said KB4015438 could fix the problembut it didn't work for mei can't install that patchthe only way to solve it is logout windows then login backis there anyways

File Explorer Visual Glitch

Windows Explorer Crashing on .mod files

Hello. Weird problem I got with Windows 10. Windows explorer is crashing whenever I right click on a .mod file (or even hover over it).

The .mod file is a modification file to a game. But its not just that one file. I made a text document and then changed the extension to .mod, and it too will cause explorer to crash when i right click on it. That was my home computer. Tried the same
thing at work, and it too is crashing when i try right clicking on a .mod file.

Things i have tried:

1. Changing file extension default program from Movies and TV to something else.

2. Ran a registry cleaner.

3. The command line scan for corrupt files (found none).

4. Editing the registry to remove any program association with .mod file, though to be honest I am not sure I did that correctly. (I did an export before trying this, so I was able to undo it when it didn't work.)

5. Using shellexview to shut down any non-windows context menus shell extensions.

Windows 10 is up to date. I know for a fact that this file type did not cause this problem, about a month ago. And again, its happening on more than one computer. (Can someone test it on their's, create a dummy .mod file, and try right clicking on it
in explorer.)

And lastly no other file type is causing this issue (though to be fair I have not gone and right clicked every file type, just a sampling.)

Any thoughts?

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
