I have a Pioneer A/V receiver VSX-1021 I think. Then a full array of Andrew Jones speakers.
I can't put it above -45db's or the neighbors will be pounding on the door, yelling to turn it down.

    Hi there.

Some decent sound insulating rubber under the speakers should deaden the sound coming underneath the speakers and remove any possible vibration transmitted to the apartment below. You can also put some thin sound insulating material on the walls too which reduce sound transmission by about 85%.

It's a pity though that buildings these days while concentrating on insulation for energy efficiency still have absolutely appalling Sound insulation.

One advantage of being out in the sticks is that you don't have that particular problem. !!!

    Cheers

TVs are very high tech these days but they can get too expensive sometimes.
Given a choice, I want something that I can make use a lot of. I'll get a non-smart TV and, say, a cheap PC that runs on Intel Celeron (with HDMI port) for an HTPC. Price-wise, you have a smarter, more functional and more controllable but cheaper multimedia system.
The thing I hate about smart TV is the GUI.

I still have an old Toshiba Regza LED TV connected to a PC. If that TV dies on me, I don't see myself looking for an expensive smart TV to replace it. I may just get a regular smart TV on sale and not use the multimedia feature on it. I am still going for a TV-PC combo.

Pretty much why smart TVs suck for this. Interface is slow and clunky. And the apps don't tend to be updated.

I agree. 100%. That's on top of the sucky user interface.
