Windows 10: Monitor and laptop freezes and why, how can it be fixed?

My laptop connected to my monitor freezes after 10 minutes and the laptop fan is really loud after that happens. And using my laptop alone works completely fine but it only freezes when it’s connected to my monitor, why is that it happens like that, what can I do to fix this?

Hi guys, i can't do what both of you has suggested for this laptop cause every time it freeze in widows it will not be able to reload windows and i have to do a clean install. I already repeated this cycle few times. Anyway thanks both of you for your suggestions.

 

Laptop freeze

It can be many things. Is it a i5 or i7? On a 5yrs old laptop it's probably overheat due to a dust clogged heat sink. Do you have a hardware monitor? My suggestion is open hardware monitor Download and extract to C:\Program Files (x86)\HardwareMonitor and then run openhardwaremonitor.exe

2nd and 3rd monitors freezing

I understand how annoying it can be when the monitors freezes at the middle of some work. Thanks for the information provided by you on the post.
To understand the issue better, we need some information.

• Did you observe any changes to the system recently, such as Updates to driver or Windows?
  
• What is the make and model of the PC?
  
• What is the make and model of the all the three monitors?
  
• How the other 2 monitors connected to the PC?
  

However, you can try the steps below and check if it works for you.

Device Drivers settings.

1. Press Windows + X key from the keyboard and select
   Device Manager.
   
2. Expand Display device. Right click on the device listed and select
   Update drivers
   
3. You will receive a prompt
   Search automatically for Updated driver.
   
4. Restart the PC and then check if the Monitor 2 & 3 freezes after sleep.
