Windows 10: Monitor automatically set YCbCr420, In sRGB it turns violet.

I have a Dell P2415Q external monitor. When connected to it via HDMI port my laptop has no other video output, the monitor automatically sets the color profile to YCbCr420 4K 60 hz. The image is fine, but for photo editing you need sRGB. When I try to set the sRGb profile in the monitor settings, the image turns purple. I experimented with resolutions. When setting 2K 60 hz the monitor indicates that it is in sRGB, but the image is soapy and blurry.My specs: Honor MagicBook 14 ryzen 3500u, Vega 8 iGPU

Computer not automatically turning on monitor

Based on your description, I understand that your Windows 10 is not turning on the monitor.



First of all I would suggest you to try to fix this problem by not powering off the monitor and keeping it on:



There is a power switch for the monitor on the side of the monitor. If you turned off the monitor's power switch the last time you shut down the computer. You will need to manually power on the monitor the next time you turn it on. Conversely, if you don't close it. The monitor will light up by itself when you turn on the computer.



You can also try to adjust the monitor's power on mode: enter the monitor's engineering mode and change the auto power option to on. the way to enter the engineering mode varies from brand to brand. You can ask your monitor manufacturer's technical support staff.

If you are sure that there is nothing wrong with your monitor and connecting cables，I recommend trying a clean boot which starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It can be used to determine whether a background service or program is interfering or causing a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by-step.

Then reinstall the monitor driver, which requires you to contact the monitor device supply vendor.

My workaround is to use PowerPoint Screen Recorder but this need additional screen capture.

The reason for Screen Recorder is Windows 10 Mouse Cursor for Office Menu item disappear when select Screen Capture App. It is cumbersome to show Tech Support what is selected on Office App on captured screen...

BTW, when it is set to just have the screensaver come on but not turn off the monitors, I have no problems at all.

Ugh, I had 2 good days with no crashes with the monitors powering down, but 2 crashes in the last 12 hrs or so.....
