    Monitor display issues

Some months ago, I bought a new monitor (1080p, 144Hz), which I've been using as my primary, while using my old one (1080p, 60Hz) as secondary. However, there have been 3 issues I've found with my new monitor and I'm not sure what's causing it or what to do with it.

First issue is it drops framerate heavily when certain programs are active. The one that comes to mind is NordVPN. It's not a huge issue, since it's in the background most of the time, but I notice it drops FPS by a lot, often when the program window is active. This only happens on my new monitor.

Second issue is it causing heavy cursor stuttering with some (full screen?) applications. It doesn't happen frequently, but I've seen it happen when I shifted BlueStacks (Android Emulator) between my 2 monitors, and it only affects when active on my new monitor. It's causing the cursor to stutter a lot, making it practically unusable, but only while that application is active on the monitor. When shifting it back to the other monitor, it's back to normal.

Third issue is more subtle, and I've been noticing it with Photoshop open. It's like there's some vertical waves going over the screen for some seconds whenever I click or move anything on the screen. Again, only seen it happen on my new monitor.

Is there any potential fix to any of this, or should I be returning this monitor and look for a different one to buy?

    :)

    Hi J,

The scaling issues with your display monitor can be caused by an outdated operating system. To further isolate the concern, we suggest that you check for the latest update for Windows by following these steps:

    • Click on Start or the Windows Logo on your taskbar.
    • Select Settings or the gear icon and click Updates & security.
    • Click on Check for updates.

If any updates are found, install it and wait for Windows to complete the update and then restart the device.

    monitor display size

    Hi Kathy,

This issue with monitor display can be caused by screen resolution problems.

As an initial troubleshooting step, try changing the screen resolution by following the steps below:

    • Right-click on the desktop screen.
    • Select Display settings.
    • Click Display.
    • Under Resolution, click on the drop-down menu and change the screen resolution.

Note: You can select the most recommended resolution (1920 x 1080) if applicable and see if the issue will persist.
