I have a laptop and a monitor I usually turn my laptop display off by closing the lid and using my monitor so the display is only detecting that but whenever i alt tab in a fullscreen game my screen goes black that doesn’t happen on windows fullscreen when both my screens are open duplicate but i get a whole other glitch where the screen freezes and i have to tab out and tab back in for changes to occur in a screen i tried checking display settings and both screens where on 1920x1080 And both scales are at 100 percent i even factory reset still nothing the weird thing is that didnt happen b

  2. alt + tab not working

Just found a really cool way to make alt+tab INSTANT!!!

In the launch options write the following: -windowed -noborder

Monitor goes black for 5 seconds when i alt tab from a game in fullscreen [IMG]

This play exactly the same as fullscreen but now you dont have to wait 30 f*@!ing seconds to alt+tab back in!

Also you don't get the little purple/black checkered effect (only in Source games) from alt+tabbing in fullscreen.

  3. Alt + Tab = Monitor goes into standby/power saving mode.

Hey I've been having this problem lately that makes my screen turn off/ goes into standby mode. It sometimes happens when Iaunch a fullscreen game and very often my screen turns off when I Alt Tab out. I can still hear all the audio in the background and
I can still speak to my friends through Teamspeak. But I can't press or do anything at all. I've tried setting up HRC (HotKey Resolution Changer). But since I cannot press anything I can't use it. Would help a lot since I HAVE to restart my computer in order
    to work again...

    Steps to recreate:

    (1) Start any fullscreen game. (sometimes blackscreen)

    (2) Alt Tab out.

    (3) Do anything on windows 10.

    (4) Alt Tab in.

    (5) Black screen, Can't do anything.

    (6) Restart computer.

    (7) Back to step 1.

    My specs:

    I7 6700k

    nVidia gtx 980 Ti

    2x8gb RAM

    750w psu

    Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170 - HD3

    1tb HDD

    250gb SSD

    Built myself.

  4. Monitor goes black for 5 seconds when i alt tab from a game in fullscreen

Black screen in Fortnite and rocket league, when alt tabbing, clicking windows or anything on my 2nd monitor

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

A black screen when alt-tabbing or interacting with a second monitor while playing games in fullscreen mode can be caused by a variety of factors, including in-game settings, display settings, driver issues, or system performance. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. Update Graphics Drivers:
      • Ensure your graphics card drivers are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel).
    2. Check Game Settings:
      • Although you mentioned the issue doesn't occur in Windowed Fullscreen mode, running the game in this mode could be a temporary workaround.
      • Some games have additional settings that might affect how they behave when alt-tabbing. Check the in-game settings for anything related to window mode or display and adjust them.
    3. Disable Focus Assist:
      • Windows 11 has a feature called Focus Assist that can sometimes cause issues when alt-tabbing out of games. Try disabling it by going to Settings > System > Focus Assist and turning it off.
    4. Adjust Display Settings:
      • Ensure that your primary and secondary monitors are set up correctly in Windows. Right-click on the desktop, select "Display settings," and make sure the displays are arranged according to your preference.
      • Check the refresh rate and resolution settings for both monitors to ensure they are compatible and not causing any conflicts.
    5. Reinstall the Game:
      • A fresh install of Fortnite and Rocket League might resolve the issue if it's related to corrupted game files.
    6. Check for Overlays:
      • Disable any third-party overlays that might be running, such as Discord, Steam, NVIDIA GeForce Experience, or Xbox Game Bar, as they can sometimes cause issues with fullscreen applications.
    7. Disable Fullscreen Optimizations:
      • Right-click the game executable file and choose "Properties."
      • Under the "Compatibility" tab, check the "Disable fullscreen optimizations" option and apply the changes.
    8. Perform a Clean Boot:
      • Sometimes, background applications can interfere with your games. Perform a clean boot to start Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs to see if the issue persists.
      • Disclaimer: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background service is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by step so that it will help you get back on track.
    9. Check Graphics Card Software Settings:
      • Open the control panel for your graphics card (NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Radeon Settings) and check for any game-specific settings that could be impacting fullscreen mode.
    10. System Restore:
      • If you can't remember any changes you made that could have caused the issue and it started happening recently, you could try performing a system restore to a point when everything was working correctly.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, consider reaching out to the support teams for Fortnite and Rocket League or looking through their respective forums for similar issues reported by other users. There might be game-specific advice or patches available to address the problem.

    Best regards
