    Monitor hooked through a DB9 to VGA adapter not recognizing


    I've finally bought the last cord that I need to hook up a second monitor, at least I thought so. It's a VGA monitor that I'm currently running into a VGA/DB9 adapter, given that my PC only has one VGA port and 0 HDMI ports. However I can't seem to get the computer to recognize there's a device plugged into it, nor does the monitor recognize it has any input. For one, I suppose I have to ask- does this method work at all? At the moment it doesn't look that way- and secondly, if it does work, what is going wrong here, and what do I need to do? I can provide any more necessary information if n

    DVI to VGA Cord

    I have tried to hook up a second monitor through the DVI with a DVI to VGA monitor but it won't recognize the monitor. Any suggestions?

    RJ45 to DB9 adapters

    Hi All -

    I'm trying to connect a control board to my computer via a cat6 cable through a cat6-->9 pin serial adapter. For the longest time I couldn't get my computer to recognize the board and so I called the tech support line in Russia, where the board was made (actually I called a number in Canada and then they patched me through or something).

    Anyway, long story short, the standard cat6 to 9 pin serial (RJ45 to DB9) adapter will not work for the board. According to tech support a new adapter must be constructed by the user to interface the board with the computer. The very helpful tech support specialist just kept saying, in a very thick Russian accent, "Green to 2, Yellow to 3, Red to 6".

    So today I began looking for an RJ45 project box but neither my campus co-op nor the closest Radio Shack carries one. I took apart the one I was using yesterday and I see several wires of different colors attached to the DB9 connector. Before I destroy this adapter by cutting and re-soldering these wires, is it really just as simple as matching these colors to the proper numbers on the DB9 connector? I guess this means that all RJ45 project boxes have pre-soldered wiring with standard colors?

    As the title says im thinking of hooking my phone up to my monitor at work but it only has VGA input.

    All i can see is VGA to... ive tried one of the below but no joy.
