Windows 10: monitor is blinking and screen goes black

Might be worth having a look at the TP link forum, seems there are issues with drivers and Win10, could possibly be related? Archer T9E with Windows 10 - Page 2

TP Link, least said about their support the better!

 

Maybe its Hibernation. Quick test.

To a command prompt (admin) or Power Shell (admin) enter

powercfg -h off

to reverse command change the word off to on.

Try with it off over night.

After re-reading this thread....I see no mention of installing said software/driver package for your PCI Wifi card. Have you installed it? I see it's a dual band setup....is it 2.4 ghz or 5.0 ghz....meaning is it one or the other or does it do both at the same time? Which one are you connecting to? What does your modem router support?

 

I have the TP link drivers and software installed, I am only using 5ghz. My modem and wifi card supports both.

I just tried it, didn't solve the problem.

Possibly, I should problably also mention that yesterday and today I had to remove the graphics card, shut off my computer, unplug the dvi-d cable, connect the graphics card again and connect the cable to make it work. I didn't have to remove the wifi card this time. I'm guessing that its the graphics card or the pci-e slot on the mainboard that is creating the problems?

 

Have you tried an older driver. I will mention that there are a few threads with screen not turning on after sleep, screen being blank after sleep.

Just to see, the next time you wake and screen does not come on, unplug the cable from the PC, wait 5 secs and plug back in.

I just did that today. It worked. The screen stops blinking if i reboot the pc, unplug the cable, wait 5 seconds and connect it again. Strange. What is causing this and how do i fix it?

 

Not sure what is causing or fix. What Graphics card on onboard unit do you have.

A friend of mine has same issue and he noticed if he disconnect and reconnected it work. Can't take credit for that. There are other threads as well where screens are either white or black after sleep.

I would think this has to be a driver issue.

If you could post back what you are using.

My gfx card is a gtx 650 and the driver version is 22.21.13.8569.

 

Okay so this is not an Intel issue. We all need to keep looking.

Current driver is 387.92 or 23.21.13.8792 if you prefer, may be worth trying.

 

I have downloaded the drivers. Will see tommorow if it works. I should problably also say that i have two additional monitors available in device manager, one is standard pnp-monitor and the other one is standard non-pnp monitor. I don't know what purpose they do.

I have an intel gfx driver that keeps installing itself for some reason. I was using the onboard gfx card with hdmi when my gtx 650 wasn't working.

 

You could try this to stop hardware updates.

I found this article and this is what I'm using in 1703. It must be working as my Wi-Fi card requires an ancient driver and I know there are current updates, I get the most recent one every major update, like V1703.

In the article quite a ways down there is a link labelled “Disable Automatic Driver Updates Hacks”
This downloads a zip file with two registry hacks. Read the paragraph above the link. I used the hack on my V1703 (Creators). Likely have to run Hack after each major update, Anniversary, Creator, Fall Creator Update(FCU).

If link doesn't work for you copy it. I checked it works for me.

Once copied paste into address bar. It takes you to article.

If the device is on your system Windows will install a driver. The article is how to stop updating.

If you are using external graphics card I believe you can enter BIOS and disable onboard, but only if you have expansion card.

 

I have installed both the registry tweaks, as well as uninstalling the intel drivers plus the device from device manager. Will see if I can disable it in bios as well. Update: So I cant get access to bios, i have tried f1, f2, f8 and f12. It just gives me a black screen with the power button on my monitor blinking.
