  1. Monitor not going up to 240hz

Hi, I'm Raff and I got the Acer Nitro xv272uw2. I got it this morning and set it up but when I went to Windows settings and navigated to advanced display, it only went up to 144hz. I've tried swapping the HDMI cable and overclocking my hertz with the Nvidia control panel, but it still doesn't work. I would appreciate it if someone could help me.Thanks, Raff

    :)

  2. How to keep 240hz refresh rate on new monitor

This is my situation. I have a MSI Stealth GS77 gaming laptop with an HDMI 2.1 output that I have an external monitor connected to. The monitor is a 1440p Asus ROG PG279QM. The monitor has several HDMI 2.0 inputs and a DP 1.4 input. The monitor is capable of a 240hz refresh rate. Everything I have read says that a 240hz refresh rate is supported at 1440p over HDMI 2.1, but not HDMI 2.0. I currently have the monitor connected to the laptop using an HDMI 2.1 to DP 1.4 cable. I am currently getting the 240hz refresh rate. I was getting it the other day and updated the BIOS on the laptop and lost the refresh rate. It dropped back down to 144hz. For some reason, I am able to get the 240hz refresh rate after the computer resumes from sleep. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way for me to lock in the 240hz refresh rate so I don't lose it again in the future? Any help would be appreciated.

  3. How to keep 240hz refresh rate on new monitor

Hi Jeffrey. I'm Greg, here to help you with this.

    1) The converter cable is often the weak link. It would be better to use HDMI output on PC since you have it on the monitor.

    2) The Display driver is so important that merely updating it might not be enough. Try everything here to make sure: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

    3) If not then try these fixes to troubleshoot can no longer get 244 hz refresh rate from Windows 11 laptop on capable monitor:

    https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/240hz-d...

    https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/gam...

    https://greenvalleygaming.com/why-is-my-240hz-m...

    4) If nothing else works then I'd ask in the Asus ROG forums which will have others familiar with the monitor and issue:

Home - Republic of Gamers Forum

Let me know if you have any questions or I can help performing any of the above steps. Based on the results you post back I will have other steps to try if necessary.

Microsoft Family Safety Issue with 240Hz Gaming Monitor - Need Help!

I'm encountering a strange issue with Microsoft Family Safety while using my new 240Hz gaming monitor. It's been quite frustrating, and I was hoping someone here might have experienced something similar or could offer some insights into a potential solution.

    The Problem:

I recently upgraded my gaming setup with a brand new 240hz gaming monitor to enhance my gaming experience. However, ever since I started using this monitor, I've been having issues with Microsoft Family Safety. The problem seems to be related to the monitor's high refresh rate because I never had this problem with my old monitor.

    Description of the Issue:

When I try to launch certain games, particularly those from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft Family Safety restricts access to the games. I receive an error message stating that the application cannot be opened due to Family Safety settings. This is really confusing because my Family Safety settings are all configured correctly, and I don't see why the monitor's refresh rate would have anything to do with this.

    Troubleshooting Attempts:

I've tried several troubleshooting steps, but none of them have worked so far:

Checked and verified my Microsoft Family Safety settings to ensure that there are no unnecessary restrictions on the games I'm trying to play.

Verified that all my drivers, including graphics drivers and monitor drivers, are up to date.

Restarted my computer multiple times to see if the issue would resolve itself, but no luck.

Temporarily switched back to my old monitor, and the issue disappears. Games launch without any restrictions.

    System Information:

    Operating System: Windows 10 Pro

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080

    Monitor: Acer Predator XB273K (240Hz, 1440p)

    Conclusion:

I'm at a loss as to why this issue is happening with my new 240Hz gaming monitor. I'm convinced that there must be some compatibility issue between the monitor's high refresh rate and Microsoft Family Safety, but I haven't been able to find any information or solutions online.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem with their gaming monitor and Family Safety? Or does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for how to resolve this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!
