Windows 10: Monitor not showing in Intel Graphics Control Panel?

I am struggling to find a solution to this - hopefully someone will be able to help.

Windows 10 recognises two displays - the external monitor and the laptop display. However, under Intel's control panel, it only shows the 'built-in display' in the drop down menu, which is the laptop's display. There should also be the external monitor. Lacking this, I am unable to adjust the gamma and brightness - I've already tried a couple of gamma utilities without success.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled fresh Intel drivers and also the displaylink adaptor which the monitor is plugged into via HDMI.

Would greatly appreciate a solution, even if it means some sort of registry fix.

Fresco Logic USB monitors and intel graphics and media control panel windows 10

So I reciently hooked up 2 monitors using fresco logics usb 3.0 to hdmi adapters. I was (after struggling) able to get my monitors to work in the correct resolution. however my displays do not show up in my intel graphics and media control panel settings.
this is an issue because both monitors are stuck in limited colors, and the only way to get it to full is for the intel graphics control panel to be able to recognize usb connected monitors. this is very frustrating. and there is no other way to fix the color
properties. this is a major flaw in windows 10 and would greatly appreciate a fix. thank you for your time and patience.

 

Windows 10 1703 problem? HDMI/DVI monitor not available on 1703 system, but works on 1607 system

Just encountered the same problem, only using an NVIDIA GTX980. As with the Intel Solution above, the default seems to have got set to only see one monitor. The Nvidia control panel option to set up multiple monitors shows both the monitors, but only one
is ticked. Ticking the 2nd monitor fixes this problem for this graphics card.
