Windows 10: Monitor problems

Earlier I was using a new Technically old but I have never used this before computer with a monitor. It uses an HDMI cable and it was working just fine for a little while. The computer ran into some problems and it restarted to fix the problems. After that the laptop screen went black but the monitor was still working. The monitor became the default screen for some reason. I tried unplugging the monitor, I went to settings to try and switch the display settings, but it said that there was no connected display. I even pressed the monitor button for me it is F8 and I pressed FN+ F8 to pull up the display thing but it would not let me switch the display. It was like it had no connected monitor. I do not know what to do and I have not found any answers that worked. Please help.

• What changes did you make in the BIOS? As making the changes in the BIOS is only recommended by Microsoft if done by the manufacturer.
  

• How are you connecting to the 2nd monitor?

Trouble with 2 monitors

I suggest you to change the settings to Extended Monitor and check if it helps.

Please follow below steps:

• Right Click any ware of the Desktop, and launch Personalization.
• Go to dual monitor settings under personalization, and change it Extended Monitor.
