Windows 10: Monitor resolution changed to 4k@30hz when opening game in fullscreen mode

Hi, I connect my laptop to an external monitor using HDMI cable. Both laptop and external monitor resolution is set to 1920x1080 with 120hz refresh rate on the external monitor. Currently I'm using the external monitor as the main display.The problem is whenever I opened some game in fullscreen mode the external monitor resolution automatically changed to 4k@30hz, while on borderless window mode the resolution stayed the same on 1920x1080@120hz. Some games that changed the resolution such as Apex Legends and Monster Hunter World, while game like Hades didn't affect the resolution on fullscreen

HDR and WCG will not turn on for 4k 60hz, only 30hz.

Issue like this might be due to an outdated videocard driver. I'd like to get more information regarding this so we could further check and provide a more established workaround. Please answer the following:

1. What is the current build and version of your Windows 10?
2. Is this the first time that you are trying to connect your PC to your TV?
3. What type of cable did you use to connect your computer to your TV?

In the meantime, try the following suggestions to isolate the issue:

• Download and install all the suggested Windows cumulative and security update.
• Install the latest video card driver. Download it directly from the manufacturer's website.
• Use a different HDMI cable. Check if your video cable supports 4k 60hz resolution. Some HDMI cable only supports 30hz at 4k.
• Try connecting your PC to you TV alone. This will help us eliminate hardware conflict issues.

Forced to play a game @ too high resolution (Ubuntu, fullscreen)?

It's the monitor on my specs, yes.

Current resolution on desktop is 1440p.

Just tried your suggestion to put the desktop @ 1080p and then the game @ same resolution and it works.

Is there a way to automate in Ubuntu 16.04 the game's shortcut to also do:

- change from 1440p to 1080p in desktop
- run game
- change resolution back to 1440p in desktop, after exiting game

That said, about a bit less then 2 months ago, this wasn't happening. Since then, @ least 1 full OS re-install but this persists.

 

Windows 10 Internet Explorer 11 with 4k monitor Flash BUG?

On a 4k Monitor using Internet Explorer.

I have noticed that Fullscreen mode for the Flash video or Flash app/game is bugged.

The video will get cut off along the bottom and side by half in the fullscreen.

It works fine in Firefox fullscreen.

Is there some sort of fix/settings that I'm not aware of to fix the fullscreen mode.
