Windows 10: Monitor Screen Size

Windows 10 downloaded automatically 2 days ago and now the screen size on my monitor has changed. I have a Samsung S24B300EL monitor that worked perfectly until the download. Now the screen when it fills the monitor is too large and some of the sidebars are missing. The only options for screen size on the monitor are automatic or wide. Automatic changes the screen size to a square and my screen is rectangular and the wide is too wide. I've tried the recommended settings and again, I can't seem to get it to fit the screen perfectly. The display is set to the recommended 1024x768. I need some suggestions and help in getting this fixed. Thanks.

This goes along with my Desktop Screen Res poll. A lot of people have been posting their monitor size in addition to voting in the poll, but I wanted to make an actual poll to put the screen size votes in a more easily readable format.

This is for desktop systems, not laptops. I've tried to include all screen sizes that people are likely to have; if yours is not listed, round up. If you have multiple, different-sized screens, check all that apply. I've also listed projectors as an option.

I didn't list individual sizes over 32" as these are typically not intended as PC monitors; just select "Larger."

• Have you tried changing the screen resolution of your monitor?

To change the screen resolution, you can check the steps below to change your screen resolution.

• On Desktop mode, right click and choose Display settings.
• On the right pane, click Display.
• On Resolution, choose the recommended screen resolution for your monitor.
• Once your done, click on Keep changes.

Several suggestions:

• This is a software question, post it under software.
• Be more specific, are you talking about your desktop? Some game?
• A topic should have a descriptive title.

If you're talking about your desktop, use whatever suits you. If you enjoy working at 320×240 you should do so, if you prefer 1600×1200, it's fine as well.
Though if you're using a CRT monitor make sure your refresh rate is set to at least 70-75 Hertz otherwise you're wasting your eyes. If your monitor does not support this lower the resolution.
