  1. Monitoring CPU usage of Win devices with different languages using typeperf %Processor Time

I use Windows 10 and above for my project in English, Spanish, etc. I am monitoring CPU usage of Win devices using typeperf %Processor Time. I want to run typeperf in devices with different locale without having to change object or counter. I see we have perflib from registry. How can I use the ID of the object or counter to fetch CPU usage in different languages, since the counter depends on the locale? Will perflib be available on all devices?

    :)

  2. What's the difference between % Prcocessor Time performance counter and % Processor Utility performance counter?

Hi Harry. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

Here are some good explanations for the difference between these, and other information that might be helpful:

Processor Speed is High / CPU Usage Low

I have an I5-3570k @ 3.4GHz but upclocks to 3.8GHz with the turbo mode.

Whilst 'idle' I have checked my processor multiplier in CPU-Z, ASUS AI Suite, Real Temp CPU monitor and it is stating 3800MHz. The CPU usage in task manager waivers between 3% and 5% and yet the multiplier stays high.

In Windows 7 it would downclock to 1600MHz when 'idle'. Now it just stays at 3800MHz.

Why is the processor staying at this high frequency 1) With low usage 2) Much higher than Windows 7?

EDIT: Solved this by going to the power settings. It was set on bitsum power management or something like that so I set it to balanced.

CPU / CPU Processor problems / Processor affinity

We appreciate the information you provided. Your processor is working as expected. CPU affinity is only showing CPU (0) since 1 processor is working at the moment. It's very likely that your computer is using a balanced power plan, so we suggest changing
your power plan to High Performance by following these steps:

    • Right-click Start.
    • Click Power Options.
    • Choose High Performance.

In addition to that, we recommend installing the latest updates to keep your system current and secure. Go to
Start > Settings > Update & Security > Check for updates.

Some programs may also be automatically launching whenever you boot your computer, affecting the performance. To disable them, follow these steps:

    • Right-click your taskbar.
    • Click Task Manager.
    • Under the Startup tab, find the programs that you don't need.
    • Right-click the program and choose Disable.

You're also using your computer for a game that was designed to run on an earlier version of Windows, so it's possible that it's slowing down your computer. In this case, use the Compatibility Troubleshooter to find and fix problems with the program using
    these steps:

    • Click Start.
    • Type Troubleshooting and press Enter.
    • Click Run programs made for previous versions of Windows.
    • Click Next.
    • Choose the program from the list and click Next.

Let us know if you need further assistance with your computer.
