    Monitors are sleeping

Since reimaging my work laptop to 10 my monitors keep going to sleep. I have selected the performance plan and changed the monitor sleep timeout to 1 hour on both battery and AC. I've even checked through the advanced settings yet my monitors keep turning off after less than 15 minutes. I'm not sure if the computer is going to sleep or if it is just the monitors but the sleep setting is set to never. I've checked power under system in settings and it is also correct. I'm not sure why the monitors or computer keeps going to sleep. I'm using a docking station with 2 external monitors but I'm not sure as to the model. I never had this issue with 7.

    :)

  2. Using laptop as desktop - can't wake it from sleep with wireless mouse or keyboard.

    • 4. Test waking from Sleep with the monitor connected to the laptop.
    • 5. Disconnect the monitor from the laptop, reboot, then test waking from Sleep without an external monitor.

No luck with monitor connected. Disconnected the monitor, rebooted, then tested wake-from-sleep with no external monitor - no luck.

  3. Display won't turn off after specified time

    Thanks for your response.

The desktop application that I using is Video Converter Ultimate by Wondershare.

While I have the monitor set to go to sleep after an hour. Last night I set it to one minute but didn't go to sleep as this morning monitor was still on without changing sleep settings.

I understand media players when playing video media monitor won't go to sleep.

    Thanks for looking into this.

Open an admin CMD/PowerShell window and run powercfg /energy and powercfg /sleepstudy . This will create two reports in the current folder.

In energy-report.html, look for the display timeout

In sleepstudy-report.html, you can see the whether the computer went to sleep

The energy report shows 15 minutes which I turned it down from but it is going to sleep faster than that and part of the day yesterday I had it on an hour but it was still going to sleep after about 5 minutes. The other log doesn't show it going to sleep except when I put it to sleep.

  6. At least that confirms that it's really the monitors going to sleep and not the entire system.

You indicate laptop but multiple monitors - does it happen if you disconnect the external monitor(s)?

Do you have a screensaver set? Does your laptop manufacturer have any power configuration utility (e.g. Dell Power Manager) that may override power settings?

I don't have a screensaver set and I am not finding a power configuration utility however in the software center used for pushing updates I found the option to bypass power settings from my IT department. I checked that and it is still going to sleep. I timed it and the monitors are going to sleep about a minute after locking the laptop. At this time I can't test disconnecting external monitors.

I found that registry entry and changed the value. The property was set for a minute and I changed that to 15 for AC. So far that seems to have worked. I'll check for the full 15 minutes later.
