Hello,

recently I've been getting an issue where my monitors randomly shut down, my gpu fans speed to 100% and the only thing that helps is a hard reset. This issue has been happening since windows updated the intel driver 05/03/2021: Intel - System - 2040.100.0.1029

Since then, I installed a different version without uninstalling the other version, just installing the fresh one and I did the same with GPU driver, but the problem persists.

  2. DWM spikes in iGPU Usage (Dell)

For some reason, starting recently, DWM has been spiking my iGPU usage (up to over 80% worst case scenario) and thus bogging down the PC. In addition to very slow performance in games, this creates a wide array of issues like slower window animations. For some reason, this makes the GameDVR Service also spike in GPU usage (both weren’t like this before then). What should I do?

    Recently I installed the KB4601382 preview on 10 20H2.

    Intel UHD i5-1035G1.

    - - - Updated - - -

Oh and I’ll add that I am using the OEM Intel gpu drivers (updated just last month to 27.20.100.8681), maybe that could be the issue

DWM acts normal when nothing is happening, it is window sizing and rendering a game that makes it spike in GPU Usage

    - - - Updated - - -

I’ve been looking into trying to install the Intel drivers (instead of using the OEM drivers) and hoping it works from there, is it a good idea to do that?

Forgot to mention that I have the lappy hooked up to a 1080p monitor

Black Screen, GPU Fan 100% When Playing Games

I would suggest going back to at least the October version:

DWM spikes in iGPU Usage (Dell)

"it is window sizing and rendering a game that makes it spike in GPU Usage"

That is normal, nothing is wrong. The whole point of having a iGPU or GPU is that it is used when required.

Obviously the more complex the Window that is resized will mean a greater spike.

Most games are designed for Nvidia or AMD graphics chipsets rather than iGPUs. The minimum requirements are usually listed for those, however in almost all cases an iGPU can be used with no problem other than a reduced performance.

It does not matter about the version of your driver.
