  1. More RAM than possible to built into the PC?

I know it might sound a bit weird but...

I have an MSI Hetis H61 Barebone PC and i don't know why the Task Manager and the external Third-Party Software CPU-Z ©CPUID are telling me that I have only 2 out of 4 DDR3 Slots used, even if there are on the Motherboard only 2 slots available and no, the RAM Chips are not the Dual-Channel-Chips...

    I have 2x 4GB DDR3 Single Channel @ 1333 MHz built in

2 Physical Slots and 2 Ghost Slots Shown in Taskmgr and CPU-Z but not physically available on the MoBo

As far as the Product Specification from MSI says:

There are only 2 RAM Slots on the Board itself, there is not even another Mainboard which could have 4 Slots because the Hetis H61 series including H61 Ultra are Dual-Slot-only Models...

Only MSI's Gaming Series have Quad-Slot Boards or even ones with more than 4 Slots...

    My Question is:

Why shows the Task Manager some RAM Slots that aren't even there? Is that a common bug or some weird side effect of the "2004 Update" in Windows 10 Pro x64?

    :)

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

  3. To RAM or not to RAM...

Hey genesis what hardware have you bought, you might be able to save on the ram and step up the rest of the hardware a little...

Or you could go out on the town as suggested... *Big Grin More RAM than possible to built into the PC? :D

More RAM than possible to built into the PC?

    Ram stick reading possibly incorrect

    Hi Evan,

Your concern about the performance of your device can be due to software conflicts related to the changes in its configuration. To better understand your concern, we'd like to know the following:

    • The last activities performed on your device prior to your concern.
    • The version and build of Windows 10 that you're using on your device. To check this, you can perform the steps posted on this

      link
      .

To validate the size of the random-access memory (RAM) that your device detects, you can perform the following:

    • Search and launch Control Panel using Cortana.
    • Click on System and Security.
    • Click on System.
    • Locate Installed memory (RAM).

In the meantime, we'd recommend performing a clean boot in Windows to isolate software conflicts on your device. To do this, you can perform the steps posted on this link.
In the clean boot environment, check if you'll still experience your concern about the performance of your device. The link will also provide steps to isolate the possible cause of the issue. Once you're done troubleshooting, check the How
to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting
section to revert your device to normal boot.

We look forward to your response.
