More than 50% of Windows devices in the enterprise are now on Windows 10

Windows 10 is the most used version of Windows, according to StatCounter. The adoption of the operating system has been increasing over the past couple of months.

Windows 10 is currently running on more than half of the commercial PCs across the world and with the end of support date for Windows 7 nearing, the chances of Windows 10 becoming the number one choice is getting brighter.

The details were confirmed by Frank X.Shaw, lead communications Microsoft in an official tweet.

“#Windows10 continues to gain traction in the enterprise as the most secure and productive OS. More than half of our commercial device install base is now on Windows 10,” he said in a tweet.

According to the earlier data revealed by NetMarketShare in September, Windows 10 was fast approaching the number one mark by dethroning Windows 7. A data from StatCounter suggests that Windows 10 is on more devices than Windows 7 which is a good news for the Redmond giant.

Microsoft’s 9 years old operating system, Windows 7 still remains a popular choice for many PC users. Over the past couple of months, Windows 10 has garnered more users.

When Microsoft launched Windows 10, it had the dream of seeing Windows 10 on more than 1 billion devices in a span of two to three years but later provided data that Windows 10 was running on more than 700 million devices and would need some more time to attain the threshold.

Microsoft is already working on re-releasing its latest Windows 10 October 2018 Update and is scheduled to release another major update in the Spring of 2019. The new Windows 10 releases would help in the adoption of the operating system quicker and close in on the number one position in the coming months.

Windows 10 market share expected to rise

The release of Windows 10 October 2018 Update is likely to contribute to the growth of the OS. Windows 10 version 1809 comes with several interesting features (Eg – Your Phone) and security improvements that could convince some users to make a switch to Windows 10.

Windows 10 market share would rise when the company ends support for Windows 7. Microsoft has announced that the businesses can pay to continue receiving Windows 7 security patches for a year or two but this offer won’t be valid for the general consumers.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
